Mindflayer colony Act 2 spoiilers - who to bring?
Hi all,

Am about to enter the mindflayer colony at the end of Act 2. I understand I can't change companions once I'm down there. Is there any recommended ones I should bring for maximum story content/dialogue? Please, no spoilers - just general answers.

I guess Gale because his quest is to blow himself up. I heard Wyll gets some stuff down there but I find him so boring I struggle to bring him anywhere - but if he has substantial content there I'll bring him. I'm guessing his Dad is down there somewhere?

My current crew is Astarian, Minthara and Shadowheart. Do any of those three have unique stuff down there? I'd rather keep my three characters, but will swap them out if important characters need to come instead (as I say, Gale seems like the one to swap in)

I would say that for max story/dialogue, Wyll is probably the best to bring along with Gale. Both have ties to their own personal story in the colony. I have done the colony with plenty of different groups, but that is a natural path to take when you have done numerous play throughs. If you intend to do more runs, then don't feel pressed to take anyone in particular. However, if this is your main "story" run, or you only plan to play it once (therefore wanting to maximize the narrative elements) then I would suggest bringing both Wyll and Gale. Have fun, whichever you choose. :)

Gale, Wyll, Minthara - Minthara optional if you wanna romance her you should bring her with you.

Shadowheart's declared her love for me and I said yes, has that locked out Minthara romance?

Does Shadowheart get unique stuff in the mindflayer colony, or safe to replace her with Minth? thx

Shadowheart doesn't really get anything in the colony in act 2 so its safe to replace her, just be sure to do the part in the tower with her.

Haven't brought her through yet, have taken Halsin, Shadowheart, astarion, Gale, Wyll through but not minathra.

Saving that for next patch when they add mods and more evil options when I do a dark urge playthrough.
Wyll is the only critical.

Awesome like you want no spoilers but everything YOU write - including the always visible topic - can be considered spoilers, and of course without the appropriate tags.

And in case someone asks - it's a spoiler because nothing before the event gives away that you will go into that place at that time, it's most likely a surprise for new ("blind") players.

Shadowheart or a cleric is useful as you can cast (radiant) guardians and that helps take care of the spawns.

Wyll or someone who can cast darkness and/or hunger of hadar. Useful on the necros and Myrkul

Someone with invisibility to free Dumb Aylin first.

Telekinesis is also useful if someone gets downed on the platform so you can move them off and heal them back up.
