Light of Creation without attacking Bernard
You must first have read the books in the tower and successfully gone through Bernard's dialogue without making him hostile. You can easily find guides for this.

Turn on turn-based mode and use Command with Shadowheart to make Bernard drop his weapon. This only causes the constructs to lose 5 opinion of you, but they will not become hostile. Then use any character to walk behind Bernard, hide (there is a spot out of vision), and steal the Light of Creation.

Couple things. I do not know if turn-based mode is necessary, but I assume Bernard will just pick up the weapon after 1 turn, so best to turn it on. I do not know how many attempts you get with Command before the constructs will become hostile because I succeeded on the first try. I do not know if hiding is necessary, but you will get caught stealing even if you're out of vision sometimes when you aren't hiding.

I just got here for the first time and was doing Honor Mode. Outside of not wanting the chance to ruin the run with unnecessary combat, I didn't want to fight them rpg-wise either because they seem cool. Oh, and a side-note, I did position a character with a sussur bloom so it was affecting Bernard and the two constructs to either side, but I don't know if that has any effect.

I just experimented with this, and it did not seem to have any effect on them. All it did was block my own characters from using spells.

I don't know how it works in combat yet, but the constructs have a weakened animation and turrets close up when in range of the sussur bloom. It doesn't have any visible effect on Bernard, but he does get the Sussur Flower Antimagic Field condition.

For the purposes of making Bernard drop his weapon, just make sure Shadowheart, or whoever your spellcaster is, isn't holding the sussur bloom, nor in range of its effect, and you should be fine to cast command.

I just fight him.

I lose sometimes, though, so I wouldn't do it in Honor Mode. It's a pretty easy fight on Balanced, but pretty tough on Tactical.

I think you can do command and make him drop it. Kind of the same trick you can do to get the Everburn Blade off the Cambion Commander in the prologue.
