I agree that it is missing a better explanation highlight, like see more clearly, some druid leaving the place where is Kagha to warn they are attacked, and have clear Kagha oder to kill everyone not druid and in the grove.
If you dig all elements it's in the logic, but better highlights would have been better.
From your quote I suppose the answer is he won't because for him the grove is more important than the realm itself.
EDIT:
And frankly it's borderline logical, as Haslin is no way any over reacting and excessive personality, more one with high tempering.
yeah he was just being a bit ♥♥♥♥♥ with that response but that's the risk you run asking questions on game forums, people have hard lives y'know, they have to vent it somehow
There's multiple ways to manage it from what I know or tried, but explain them would be spoilers so don't read if you want avoid them:
Kagha is for sure an unpleasant NPC but there's more behind:
- Option 1: You achieve free Haslin, so he takes back the lead of the grove and then only punish Kagha, I don't remind if you can influence him so she is killed. Haslin has valid arguments to only punish her.
- Option 2: You find clues/evidences that Kagha is working in secret with Shadow druids to take control of the grove, then reveal her and then achieve convince some other druids you are right (with evidences there's probably no skill check I don't remind), then it's only a combat with druids against Kagha and some shadow druids and some druids on Kagha side. In that case druids won't kill everything in the grove.
- Option 3: You reveal shadow druids, but fail make the link with Kagha, never tried but it seems it triggers all druids attack you, the idea here is Kagha is still controlling the whole grove and order to druids to attack everything.
- Option 4: You just attack Kagha and it leads to similar consequences than Option 3.
- Option 5: You start with option 1 then chain with option 2, not sure if it's possible nor the consequences.
In general about the writing, don't jump to conclusion too fast, many story aspects aren't so basic, hence you can think it's incoherent when it's just because you failed find all the information, or even because you failed link well the elements of complexity. And then I'm sure there's still not fully logical writing all the way, but it's no way common.
