Nautiloid Rune Slates
Hello all,
I have been having trouble in getting the rune slates on the nautiloid to work; when interacted with they do not display text nor are they narrated, and I have tried reloading saves, verifying files, and uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. Unfortunately, none of these have worked. It is a bit of a downer, as I have wanted to do a DU run for a while now and the lack of world building is a bit distracting. Any and all help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. - I apologize for the length of this post and if I posted it in the wrong discussion board.

I don't believe you're able to read the runes at all (apart from the ones above buttons, for which you need an Arcana (?) check)

Only a few are useable and give any information, most of them do nothing.

Ditto the above.

In EA, I seem to remember they were all readable, but could be wrong.

The Nautiloid was twice as big back then, so maybe they got careless when they were cutting?

All seven of them used to have a narrative attached to them, but somewhere along the way an update caused several of them to no longer work. I assumed it was unintentional, but who knows? I don't know why they would intentionally remove existing content.

I just did a fresh start and all but two worked. The second two of three that are grouped together on the tables.

These are just little pieces of info that hint you slightly on what was happening before (and long before) Tav's abduction. The text of those is good to remember, but plays no major role in the rest of the game.
It's like, 'Oh, here we are. A dissected goblin and a slate nearby that contains description of collected goblins' ways and rituals and so on. Hmm, we're going to meet lots of goblins soon...'
Unfortunately, after several walkthroughs no further dialogs and narration within the game shows that Tav remembers anything from these nautiloid tablets. A pity, that - he/she could start unravelling all this tangle much earlier.
And yes, two tablets stopped issuing their narrative after Patch 5, but even if anyone has put it into the lightspot, Larian doesn't seem to rectify such a minor bug.

They all were readable when i got the game back in January. But I think in one of the patches or updates they either accidentally broke a bunch of them or they removed the content. Which I don't understand why they would do that. The only ones that work are in the second room from the pod chamber you wake up in. One is about goblins the second is a schematic of the Nautaloid and the third is of history of the various humanoid races. The one about the Nautaloid is important if you allow the mindflayer in the underdark that works with the hobgoblin in the myconid colony to examine the tadpole in your head. It is one of the ways you can convince him to give you the Ring of Mindshielding. A ring that gives advantage on saving throws against being charmed.

Yeah... I thought they all worked at one point....

I would prefer for them to continue to work... or simply remove so as to not distract players with (now) useless content.

As I recall, you can describe the Nautiloid for Omelluum even if you haven't read the slate, and the check DC would be the same. Just because you've been inside one, and he claims he'd never set foot on such a ship. Anyway, there aren't much foes in the game that Charm you in the battle, they prefer to lower your HP instead. So IMHO the ring is largely useless.

True but you can do that same roll with advantage if you had read the slate.
