Unholy assassin question
Dose your soul belong to Bhaal once you die if you character chooses to become one? I do not mean die in the game I am talking as when the character you play as passes from the mortal plane for good.

Seems to me that gods have little to no rules in this world unlike the devils but they can still yoink souls. If you look at Shadowheart´s parents and then the 3 chosen it is very clear they end up property of their gods.

The gods have very strict rules oddly and devils are lawful evil even in current dnd terms they follows rulers to a harsh letter and work in loopholes on everything

Though given its just a ritual it comes down to intent did you really become an assassin or just did it has an undercover thing what does your heart say. Its why the forgotton realms has a judge for the dead and a place where the fiathless wander till they are nothing

Sorry fdor typos and errors

The game dose not really allow for your character to say anything after becoming one that implies you "faked" it. And look at Sha being able to hold on to Shadowheart herself unless she had her parents die even after rejecting and denying her foiling her plans and desires. Seems like very undefined rules to me and from what I understand it is so big boss god AO I think that stops gods from doing whatever they want.

To me all 3 gods of death strike me and very petty gods and I am 100% sure Bhaal would do everything he could to hold on to your soul in other to torment you for all eternity.

Shar in the end did not strip shadowhearts free will till she gave everything, that hold was a heavy threat if shadowheart had died for good before she gave herself to shar freely the god of the dead would have judge her soul differently. Shar knows the game better then anyone why she toys with shadowheart so cruelly

And like you said its implied that your doing has a trick so it would not give bhaal full claim to your soul though the case could be made by bhaal that your soul be set to degrade to nothing unless its given to him freely upon death either way it does not matter till your char kicks the bucket or gives themselves fully and even then can have a chqnge of heart that effects judgement later no good really gets souls that easily

Sorry for typos and errors

But you can see why the fasithless issue was a big deal in forgotten realm lore, can easily end up wandering till you are nothing because did not go to a god 100 percent why somethings changed in the city of the dead and why dark urges good ending is interesting

So would you say if every action done in-game apart from becoming a assassin in general has been good as in saving most everyone that the judgement would be for your soul to be yours or would it be the situation that Bhaal can have your soul destroyed come into play.

Wandering souls of the fithless are a bit-more then destroyed its slow process over time has you loose bits and pieces till you are a shadow of nothing, but yes he could make the case that you pledged yourself to him then backed out and are faithless, unless you have someone to speak on your behalf such has the other souls you saved and/or another god

Wait you telling me that unless you worship a god you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyways? This fantasy setting sounds like a living nightmare to be in. I would honestly burn it down or kill every single god out there. Not gone lie killing the gods would make a good game. They all seem selfish and entitled this is even shown if Gale dose become a god in game.

Use ti be a case yes, hence why I mentioned the city of the dead having a rule chasnged and dark urges good ending, good souls without faith are no longer punished alongside the bad ones, but its never easy since the god of the dead is a very strict lawful type so the cases can still go badly without support

In the old lore for both DND & pathfinder Asmodias worked his magic at the creation of the mortal races to include a clause in the contract that governed where soul's went.

It states that any mortal who chooses to worship no gods ended up destined to for his domain at the bottom of the 9 h3lls.

He being the arch devil of law was craft enough that the other god's didn't notice until after they had signed it.

It may have been eratta'd a bit in 5th edition to be what he described but its still not a good fate.

All I hear is nightmare fuel and more reasons to not like the setting more than anything no wonder people sell their souls to the devils seems like the world is set up to screw with you no matter what.
