Though given its just a ritual it comes down to intent did you really become an assassin or just did it has an undercover thing what does your heart say. Its why the forgotton realms has a judge for the dead and a place where the fiathless wander till they are nothing
Sorry fdor typos and errors
To me all 3 gods of death strike me and very petty gods and I am 100% sure Bhaal would do everything he could to hold on to your soul in other to torment you for all eternity.
And like you said its implied that your doing has a trick so it would not give bhaal full claim to your soul though the case could be made by bhaal that your soul be set to degrade to nothing unless its given to him freely upon death either way it does not matter till your char kicks the bucket or gives themselves fully and even then can have a chqnge of heart that effects judgement later no good really gets souls that easily
Sorry for typos and errors
So would you say if every action done in-game apart from becoming a assassin in general has been good as in saving most everyone that the judgement would be for your soul to be yours or would it be the situation that Bhaal can have your soul destroyed come into play.
In the old lore for both DND & pathfinder Asmodias worked his magic at the creation of the mortal races to include a clause in the contract that governed where soul's went.
It states that any mortal who chooses to worship no gods ended up destined to for his domain at the bottom of the 9 h3lls.
He being the arch devil of law was craft enough that the other god's didn't notice until after they had signed it.
It may have been eratta'd a bit in 5th edition to be what he described but its still not a good fate.
