I don't agree with your sentiment seeing as the default 'Urge' is a sorcerer.
That doesn't mean he will not mutliclass of course, and yes, his cape is amazing for assassin rogues - but also to Gloom Stalkers and any other high burst killed that can trigger it every turn, even a pally that loves Smites.
I usually make him a Bard to have the ability to use 2 1hand crossbows, because they are a very easy way to deal heavy damage as soon as lv 4 (with sharpshooter), specially if you can immobilize the target - something bards can do - while having decent hit chance from invisibility even with the -5 active.
Now, after much testing that Durges really want to be are HALFLINGS. Halfling luck is one of the very few buffs that is not lost on Slayer Form , and it's great everywhere else too, including being theparty face and skill monkey.
Which mechanically kind of sucks as the dark urge form has a massive nerf to charisma meaning it won't work well as a bard, sorcerer, warlock or paladin.
Would you be casting spells in that form anyway?
Lore wise there were 10,000+ Bhaalspawn, yes?
Lore wise, the Bhaalspawn all died and Bhaal was resurrected long before BG3.
My Durge was a Bard. I imagine them using charming magics to lure and seduce victims. Playing music to contemplate and plan their next murder. Seeing each killing as a grand performance leading up to their grand finale in delivering the world to Bhaal.
Its not just spells though its everything that scales off Charisma.
That hurts a number of class abilities for those classes.
And yes if it wasn't for the charisma nerf it causes it would be very fitting for an oathbreaker paladin or warlock.
