Why is it so hard to find the best party combos
As someone who has played multiple playthroughs without ever finishing one, I wanna ask why is it so difficult to find the right balance? I mean especially in Act 1 when everyone is below level 5 every encounter feels like life or death. My tavs have also died multiple times throughout various playthroughs. I just wanna be everyones friend but I don't wanna suffer. I have gone so far as doing the research and compiling a list of what works and what doesn't.

I think what works best for me is Party Limit Begone

The number of Revivify scrolls you come across (and later, the spell) suggests that death is not uncommon. Unless it's the whole party, don't sweat your characters dying too much.

Do you mean synergy or simply putting best builds in a party? For synergy it will mostly be themed and so, for example, you can build a party around darkness, fire, ice etc.

For a party of 'best' builds I really think this comes down to personal taste in playstyle, but there are a ton of posts online about party comps that synergise

You gotta have a CC mage, a support, and a frontliner.
Once you got those 3 the 4th guy can be anything. That's how I set up my team, so I can always swap the 4th guy out.
IRL you can't be everyone's friend, someone who tries to appeal to everyone appeals to no one

I wonder why this would happen to OP, who has a level 0 account that only has a handful of posts (all on the BG3 forum, all made today), doesn't own the game, and suddenly decided to post a link to a massive website apparently infamous for not having any accurate info about DnD and whose positive online reviews, frankly, look like they were written by bots.

Truly a mystery.

Build your team around their killing potential, your best defense is killing of as many enemies as you can in the fewest rounds possible. Sure, support like a life cleric is nice, but they're not gonna heal up 15 goblins hacking away at your mage, they are more for emergency heals and post-battle healing so make sure they have some offensive spells like guiding light and use them to throw grenades and spell scrolls. Same with mages, even though they're very weak before lvl 5 you can use them to CC and snipe off low health enemies with magic missiles and stuff.

Frankly it's not hard at all. Have 1 frontliner (Lae'Zel or Karlach), one lockpicker (you or Astarion), one support (you or Shadowheart), one caster (you or either Wyll or Gale) and one party face to talk to people (you or Wyll, or even Gale to a lesser extent).

Play on Explorer difficulty.

Looked like a post written to drive traffic to a site, that was laughably removed, so no advice from me, except...better luck next time.

But on topic from my own play, Shadowheart has really grown fond of being a light Cleric with her first level in Fighter to start out (then respecced later on).
Mobility is awesome, so oft times I drop a level of Storm Sorcerer in mobility-challenged tanks, so they can get in place, or onto the next target, even faster.
This is very early game stuff though, because gear to help every shortcoming is just around the corner in this game.
So I just play the character I feel like playing on any given day, but with 12 classes and so many sub-classes, even figuring out what that is can be a challenge.

The best class setups vary with what level you are at:

There's no one answer, so it might not be obvious what works best.

suggestion:

start with bard, fighter, cleric, wizard

at level 5 switch to bard, fighter, sorcerer, paladin

once you get to 9+ many different setups work, with multi classing coming in as a good way to exploit combinations of abilities and magic items you have accumulated.
