There are some exceptions ( like myrkul, or the absolute part ), but if one can't handle a party wipe on honour, that's probably the best way out.
To me it's a bit of a waste of time and it might get janky at certain parts of the game.
Janky? Idk I've never had issues with party separation if that's what you mean.
Hence the "might" lol. Kappa mentions some exceptions so it could be odd if you have 3 well equipped party members and 1 crappy party member show up in front of Myrkul.
I use some advantages for my honour mode run but not the 3 party strategy. Maybe I'll regret that.
What's the point in playing honor mode then...
You can lose an Honour Mode run by bugs, glitches, crashes, etc...
I can understand why people would use this method to try and ensure a run.
Exactly my point ( I am starting to think I was misunderstood ).
I was merely pointing out that there's a way out to exploit the game if one wants to do so, if they can't beat the game ( this does not include being careful with elevators, ofc ).
Btw, reading the steam bg3 forum it's pretty clear the majority of people finds honour mode a real challenge, hence why they'd do anything in order to complete it ( including not "honorable" ways).
I mean... is it really dishonorable? The difficulty is amped up on an already pretty difficult game by going 3 instead of 4.
Just from a logical perspective what should happen upon a partywipe is... Wyll, who is doing a great job of making sure the camp is safe in my playthroughs, could check in with withers on why I didn't show up at camp at night for a long rest.
To which withers could respond "600 gold is the price of balance" like normal.
I'd really love if the difficulty were that amped, making the game difficult but... unfortunately, that's not the case ( due to not being able to always be online 4x at the same time, I ended up clearing most of the content 2 or 3p. Using monoclasses, just to try boosting the difficulty... but it didn't help much, unfortunately ).
In addition to that, it does seem quite an excuse to me.
It's like saying "I am doing the content with 3 characters rather than 4", while truth is that the player is preventing a total party kill, and that they can try over and over until they succeed ( removing the "1 save" issue ), considering enemies won't respawn ( so every "rematch" will be a farce.
But it's just my 2 cents, and given this is a sp game, in the end if the one who plays ( or the group, if it's a mp run ) is fin with keeping a character outside the combat all the time, that's up to them.
