i'm sure EA would love access to a license to make a DnD game but from how hellish the development of DA4 has been i doubt they(bioware) can handle anything like it any time soon
not sure whats up with obsidian with them doing a TES-like spin off of PoE, but assuming they still got the people who did PoE1/2 in there im sure they could do smth good, as long as said spin-off doesnt cause harm to the studio
you answered yourself
Honestly. NwN was one of the games that made me quit CRPG, I played DnD tabletop, so, when BG1-BG2 showed up I was just awed... Loved BG1-2, so was expecting much of NwN, never met the standards of the previous ones... Together with Icewind Dale... Although graphically and mechanically very similar to BG1-BG2 the story was as deep as a puddle on a road... on a sunny day... It was but a giant combat arena, not that there is something wrong with that, but an entire CRPG game built around just combat after combat, well...
Larian steered hard to fit general expectations of the community since it has begun but I still think that the story and production aspects of the game were disastrously bad. Let them stay awa from NWN and IWD, the community will lose nothing.
