Best options for second playthrough?
I'm almost done with playthrough number one as a Oath of Vengeance Paladin with Shadowheart, Karlach and Gale as my primary companions.

What would you recommend for playthough number two to get the most out of the game?

Use other companions.

I pretty much always use Shadowheart unless I'm playing a Tav cleric, but the game is viable with any of the companions.

If you assume Gale is going to be sitting at camp, then maybe play a wizard or sorcerer.

Super Evil Durge, Side with slaughtering the Grove. Help all the baddies. Take over the brain.

Go with Mithara, Lae'Zel and Shadowheart but let her murder the Nightsong.

Dark Urge, played however you want, no need to kill everyone if you don't want to. Story is awesome no matter how you do it. Play on Honour mode

What about a Sorlock?

My honour mode run right now my Dark Urge is 5sorc/5warlock/2fighter, I got the Potent robe, ethels hair, charisma hat, all the spell attack roll gear, all the illithid powers. Cast haste on myself or hunger of hadar, use counterspell/misty step if I need it. Covert my warlock slots to sorcery points then short rest before a big fight. It's the most powerful thing I've played in the DnD universe

My second play through was Dark Urge sorcerer warlock, trying to resist the urge. She had a lot of empathy for the monstrous and the misunderstood, and ended up bonding with Astarion pretty hard. I'd definitely recommend it.

DURGE ! Your choice of resist/indulge depending how strong your stomach is :). It's also really worth taking Astarion as a permanent party member if you do, not least because they had the same writer so there's a load of interplay between them.

Just be warned that if you do a full on "indulge" run your camp'll get pretty empty and you lose out on a bunch of quests. You do still have enough XP to hit level cap, and you've seen all that first time through anyway.

At what difficulty level did you play? Tactician?

I'd recommend NEVER play on Honour Mode without such a radical change of character. Honour Mode is competition, efficiency, mathematical precision. It is play-to-win, not play to have fun and experiment (immo). In any competition you train before the competition. So, at least on a first run in Honour Mode, I'd recommend go with a setup you know and follow the same dialogue options you already know the result for.

So I've decided to play through a second time as a Dark Urge Sorcerer, alongside Lae'zel, Shadowheart, Astarion and Minthara as my main companions.

Lae'zel - I didn't use her first time round that much, so will spec as a classic fighter I think.

Shadowheart - I stuck to her base class first time, so this time I'll either have her as a life or light cleric. Any suggestions?

Astarion - I really don't like playing with the sneak attack tactic, so I'm tempted to completely respec and restyle Astarion mainly just to keep his character and story but completely change his gameplay. How would you suggest to do this best? What class could you have him as, and using what tactics?
