Raphael buffs
About to fight Raphael, love the healing pool which allowed me to summon two undeads and an elemental for Gale plus the angel guy thingy for Shadowheart! With Hope too it means I have a party of 9 to face Raphael 🤣 Any other suggested until long rest buffs before going in?

Thanks. Forgot to mention I'd done Heroes Feast too. Any more suggestions with Gale (or my Paladin)?

2 globes of invulnerability and a couple of healing potions should be more than enough.

Have your party drink Elixirs. Cloud Giant Strength, Bloodlust, Battlemage's Power, etc.

Force damage over piercing.

To bad you got Gale with you seeing as he is the best camp cleric in the whole game.

If you have hoarded about 50k gold and have bought everything you need (or know the double empty backpack trick), go invisible and reverse pickpocket him (give Rafael the gold) and smack him with the twist of fortune morningstar. Use the blood money special attack and he goes down in 1 hit. It does +4 damage per 300 gold on the enemy.

Also a useful trick on Gortash to 1-shot him to get the fancy footwork achievement.

If you have explosives, put some by the pillars beforehand.

Best thing to have though is a couple of globe of invulnerability scrolls, with 9 you should be OK with that.

If you really want to take the fun out of it with all the party members and hirelings you aren't using you could respec them to cleric. Buff your party with warding bond, protection from poison, freedom of movement, death ward, aid upcasted, heroes feast. Then get a bard and bardic inspiration, longstrider. Get a transmutation wizard level 6 for the transmuter's stones. Cast any buffs your party members have and illithid powers, then short rest with the bard in camp.

Just hire hirelings.
I had like 4 in my last play through.

A transmuter wizard at the very least will make crafting potions a breeze & will make a number of fights easier by giving you the stone at lvl 6.

The big difference is that Gale pretty much can not die to Warding Bond damage otherwise it dose not matter.

As it happens, I just rolled through there with Shadowheart (origin), Lae'Zel, Minthara, and Gale. Rescued Hope, killed Raph, etc. Started at level 11 and leveled up after freeing Hope but before fighting Raph. Custom difficulty, with the enemy ability sliders set all the way up.

This fight is completely doable just playing it straight. No barrel-fu, no invulnerability, etc. I did have Yurgir on my side.

Shadowheart and Hope spent almost the entire fight just healing people. Lae'Zel and Minthara were melee and did almost all the damage. Gale counterspelled and used magic missiles to take down the pillars.

My fight, at tactician, was: 2 consecutive globes of invulnerability (one casted, one scrolled). First turn Yurgir and Hope's sister gone, then black hole on the cambions with my fighter throwing Nyrulna trident to make short work of them. Wizard cast 3 magic missiles per pillar and karlach with an hammer finishing pillars. Last globe fades out, one half pillar to go, kill pillar then all gang up on poor ralphie. Hope healing party, all have drank (splashed) before combat fire resistance potions, gale counterspells when he can, spread party as possible to protect from hellfire.

Note: my fighter had also illithid cull the weak and fly. (Partial ceremorphosis, as well as Gale), all had fire resistsnce gear or natural fire resistance plus potion of fr. All party level 12 at start.

Another hint: having a few flasks of water and the wavemistress robe in places where you can't long rest saves you a lot of spells / potions / short rests...
