2 globes of invulnerability and a couple of healing potions should be more than enough.
Also a useful trick on Gortash to 1-shot him to get the fancy footwork achievement.
If you have explosives, put some by the pillars beforehand.
Best thing to have though is a couple of globe of invulnerability scrolls, with 9 you should be OK with that.
Just hire hirelings.
I had like 4 in my last play through.
A transmuter wizard at the very least will make crafting potions a breeze & will make a number of fights easier by giving you the stone at lvl 6.
This fight is completely doable just playing it straight. No barrel-fu, no invulnerability, etc. I did have Yurgir on my side.
Shadowheart and Hope spent almost the entire fight just healing people. Lae'Zel and Minthara were melee and did almost all the damage. Gale counterspelled and used magic missiles to take down the pillars.
Note: my fighter had also illithid cull the weak and fly. (Partial ceremorphosis, as well as Gale), all had fire resistsnce gear or natural fire resistance plus potion of fr. All party level 12 at start.
Another hint: having a few flasks of water and the wavemistress robe in places where you can't long rest saves you a lot of spells / potions / short rests...
