Is Baldur's Gate map all wrong? (Spoilers)
Has anyone compared BG3, city map with the original BG1 city map? Yes, I know, it's been 100 years... But problem is Flaming Fist HQ is on the other side of the city, Ramazith's tower and the Hall of wonders are on the upper city and Elfsong is right beside Sorcerous Sundries... And I'm still trying to picture the sunking of Iron Throne without the temple of Umberlee also sinking and without turning the ramp to upper city into a dock...
And, of course... There are no steep hills or mountains in the city, just a slight slope from downtown to upper city, which makes the view from High Hall in BG3 (which should be the Duchal Palace) pretty much impossible...

Have you checked out, if the BG1 city map is correct?
Also D&D is SI old, that even the original rpg map may have changed a lot. You should compare the BG3 map to official D&D 5h edition Baldurs gate map… and even that would be somewhat useless, because the games makes maps that suits to their game and their story in the game.

And so… The GB1 map is right
BG2 map is right.
BG3 map is right!
And all possible D&D editons all Baldurs gate maps are the right ones!
Because they all are made to suit the story and adventure that has been writen in those products!
Anything else would be foolish.

But if you want accurasy. The current time Baldurs Gate map from current D&D edition is the official Baldurs game map… and BG1 did not use that one… for good reason. But if you want to be kosher. Use original D&D maps, not computer game maps!
But in my eyes, they all are the correct ones!

In-game information is that the Iron Throne building was magically towed out into the river and sunk there intentionally.

Flaming Fist HQ seems to have moved, as things will.

Elfsong and Sorcerous Sundries are still pretty close to each other.

Ramazith's Tower is actually still in the upper city. You go there via portal and you leave there via portal.

I highly doubt that Larian team played the originals. They were making a DOS:3 reskin, so why bother about lore, maps, or anything?

Actually, several things you find in Emperor's Lair are almost directly referencing treasure and objects from Tales of the Sword Coast BG1 expansion, and not surprisingly, they are all objects related to Balduran . For people with memories of ToTSC, Larian is cluing you into something the game will reveal later. For that matter, so does the song you constantly hear while in Elfsong Taven.

Yeah, I was just there and once again laughed when he said his butter knife was missing.

In Tales Of The Sword Coast, you find the "Butter Knife of Balduran" at the shipwreck site on Lycanthrope Island.
