Just go and look at the spells and abilities the devs would have to figure out how to code.
It’s not abandoned, they’re still updating it. However the majority of content is what’s in the game now.
BG3 isn’t the blessing. Larian is.
----
However, when speaking to IGN, Vincke revealed that the developer did begin working on DLC for the title and even considered a sequel. “Because of all the success, the obvious thing would have been to do a DLC, so we started on one. We started even thinking about Baldur’s Gate 4. But we hadn’t had closure on BG3 yet, and to jump forward on something new felt wrong.
Larian founder Swen Vincke said the team was "elated" about the DLC cancellation and said its next title is "different" but "still familiar."
----
BG4 will happen so Hasbro can try and cash in, but a lot of it will be AI generated. Hasbro fired all the staff that worked on artwork, D&D books, and the staff that worked with Larian in the beginning. BG3 did well, but Hasbro is not doing well overall.
Hope they stop ruining classic franchise in the future and keep to their own IP.
All we know is what we've been told by Larian - that they're not going to do it, and that they're not interested in doing it, and that they have no issue with WotC.
They're going to continue with patches and mod support, and work on their next game, which will apparently "dwarf the scope of BG3".
BG4, however, was never really "planned." Larian had "started thinking about it," but there were no hard plans for it. You definitely can't cancel something you never came close to starting.

Also Larian have just created a new standard for video games.
