Gale and dual wielding
Can he not dual wield at all? His staff is versatile, and the Moonlantern is light and versatile. So should he not be able to equip the staff, and carry the lantern in his off hand? He's got a really good staff... Does it count as equipped, if it's in the weapon slot, but he has the light source (moonlanter) turned on?

both weapons must be light

Light weapons only, unless certain feats are applied.
Versitile does not equal light.

This tripped me up when I tried to make a longsword+dagger character (which is actually more realistic than the dual daggers that are so popular). But yeah, it's either two light weapons without the feat or any two one handed weapons with it.

Mostly because WotC are trying to keep it simple compared to 3.X's scaling penalties based on training and off-hand weapon. This is why we get weirdness like scimitars/sabres being 'light' while similarly sized blades are not, god forbid Overpromoted Do'Urden might not be able to do his impractical fighting style.

Just pick the two handed fighting feat and you will be able to equip 2 non-light weapons. Equipping two magic staffs is really powerful for Gale, imo.
