Grymforge armor
Playing main char warrior who got the heavy splint. For second armor, can pick another heavy (Laezel) or a Medium (like Shadowheart). Hard pick.

Definitely heavy. The Heavy Armor Master feat provides an additional +3 damage reduction on top of the 2 you're already getting. 5 DR is a lot better than the 1 you'll get from taking the medium option.

Moreover, Act 2 and Act 3 both have a special set of medium armor that don't limit you Dex modifier, which make for better choices than the Adamantine medium armor that has the standard +2 Dex modifier limit, and a middling AC that does not scale fantastically into the late game.

That's what I did for my char, now it's between heavy for Laezel who I don't think will get heavy master, and Shadowheart, but she has a radiant bonus on her armor...

I'd just go Radiant with Shadowheart. There's other stuff to stack there; it can get pretty sick if you go all the way.

For suit #2 I'd go Medium and give it to Karlach. Eventually maybe something lighter will give better results, but there's a lot of game between now and then. You'll come by some good heavy suits for Lae'zel, and she'll probably end up wearing the adamantium plate in the late game anyway.

OK thanks. I forgot what armor type is best for Karlach, I thought it might be none or light.

Medium or a shield, since another heavy armor character can use the helmet and benefit from the crit immunity.

Interesting point about the helmet. I probably should have considered the shield for Gale, but hadn't. He shouldn't get hit a lot hopefully though.

Any armor you get will be quickly outclassed by the time you get 1/4 way through act 2 in the shadowlands. (a couple of which you can get from the vendor right away)

The helmet is the only thing that really sticks around staying useful for long.

The shield is also decent cause you can pass it off to another character.

I prefer the medium armor and a shield. There's too many better suits of heavy armor, but not so much on the medium side.

What better heavy armors are you thinking of?

Who do you find the medium and shield useful for?

I don't remember a better heavy suit that early. The full-DEX medium suit is better, but only if you have someone built for it.

I don't think I do. Per the posts above I took medium for second suit instead of another heavy, but Shadoheart using radiant armor, so Karlach gets it...

Heavy.

The weapons are weak and already obsolete for the most part by the time you get them. The armor is outclassed later on. 1 heavy armor is enough, I would get a shield for the 2nd item .... if you have anyone who uses a shield. Don't forget to pick up the Grym helmet, it gives you protection from critical hits, just like the shield and armor do.
