Not saying it's impossible, fans continue to amaze me with their engagment.
It won't be possible to create new lands and quests with the tools as it stands now.
The issue is that BG3 questlines and terrain editing is VASTLY more complex than DoSII.
Swen said that it would require them a year or two to make those tools available to the public, wich would have been like developing a game a 2nd time.
Now, not to say that Modders WILL devise their Own tools after they get their hands of the Modding tools from Larian.
Just like how Skyrim/Oblivion modders developped their own tools and 3rd party programes to run very complicated Mods that Bethesda could never imagine.
But sometimes, somethings are just Not possible.
But I suspect it's also a matter of the licensing being much more difficult for BG3 than with their own IP.
Also the fact that they want mods on console.
So you can't just give the whole thing to players as is.
BG3 isn't going to get the same tools officially released that DoS2 did. Apparently WotC really don't want people making custom campaigns in order to protect their intellectual property...
They already said in their press release it won't have a level editor, dialog editor, skeleton editor or a bunch of other tools that would be needed.
Larian was already pretty upset with wizards for their greedy actions (they fired all the people Larian worked with despite the game's success, then gave their top brass big bonuses).
And given the way wizards/hasbro handles things they likely were going to demand all kinds of microtransactions be in it if it gave any real modding capabilities because they like to milk their customers for every cent they can.
so sad... I just think that if we can make a new adventure or something like that this game will never die and this game will be like a really DnD digital game.
Wizards if they ever allowed it to release would likely load it with microtransactions & or make it something you had to pay monthly to use.
They are not happy unless they are milking the customer for every cent they can get.
