It's all.
It all depends on your level of personal insanity and how much BS from the internet you believe.
I wouldn't bother if I were you and just enjoy a good game
People that love the game tend to not comment. Some just enjoy being critical. For some I think its some type of badge of honor to say "this game isnt as good as bg2"
lmao
There's nothing wrong with act 3. The game lets you decide how to play it and as is in real life, people see things as they WANT to see them. VERY few are impartial
For me I loved the game so much it would've been nice if there was an "upper city" as you hear about it often in dialogue. The game is amazing and vast and im sure it just came down to time and money
Look forward to future games from Larian
Dont read the forums for opinions. Its a game. Play YOUR game
As for bad, it *was* bad, unplayable for many, all pretty much fixed now.
Many girl bosses. Can't talk to the guy, has to be the wamen in charge.
No busty barmaids, one is butch and the others are all male.
Lots of forced diversity and lore retcons for DEI's sake.
Immigrant politics inserted.
Trans and Drag Queen inserts.
These are just minor flaws compared to the unfinished stories and endings. There have been subsequent patches to add on to some of the abrupt endings. The entire upper city is missing so there are still several plot holes or story lines that just disappear with no satisfactory conclusion.
Patch 7 in the fall will add evil endings finally as the epilogue that was added really only helps tie up some of the "good" endings.
There are some potato rigs that can't handle all the extra graphics from the greater number of NPCs running around in ACT 3. Some of that is really caused by bad code optimization, which has been somewhat fixed in one of the patches. I am running 4k on a 13 yr old PC on all max settings and 4k terrain upscale mods as well without much issue, but not everyone has (what long ago used to be) a top tier rig.
There are a few very good fights and encounters in ACT 3, but there are also the greatest number of flaws in it due to the lack of polish vs. ACT 1. I would say with mods the game is worth playing/buying, but without mods there might not be the level of choice in an RPG you might be used to having.
Act 3 was half made by release, and that made a few progressive - other would call mildly woke already - parts to be all out woke, as in disruptive and not believable.
One of those examples: EVERY deep gnome was gay. It really was hard to keep the suspension of disbelief whay you did a certain mission with lots of them and letters to partners, etc.
They are now more mixed.
This is basically what I remember. People usually reached act 3 after having the companions hit WAY to hard and insistently on them for 100s of hours, so it was basically piling up.
Now companions behave in a more organic way, even if they are still player sexual (something I dislike because it makes for less personality, but oh well, it's how it's done), so you don't reach act 3 already more sensible to forced decisions, and the gnomes in the example have gay but also straight couples, so it doesn't bother me personally anymore.
Of course, if you are totally traditional and dislike those themes you will think tis game is woke. As it is in the current state I'd say there is not much content to bother someone who is ok with modern sensibilities but dislike the feeling of being preached to.
No, no, and no. You're welcome.
No, Yes, no. The pander stone was used several times to the detriment of the story and immersion, but it's not a Hollywood snoozefest with no story and all pander either.
If they're not just lying.
Companions don't hit on you constantly.
I don't give a f about gay gnomes.
I don't care who's serving drinks at a bar, as long as the Neverwinter Ale isn't being watered down.
There are some refugees in the game, there are no "immigrant politics".
The game has one drag queen, and a trans person most players might miss.
There's a guy boss and a girl boss in Act 3.
There is no political agenda "preached" in this game at anybody.
I love mods and I mod my game in many ways to make it more fun, but I would say it's very playable without them.
Act 3 is fine. A bit performance heavy once you get into Baldur's Gate Lower City at times and the quests are spread out everywhere which can be a bit overwhelming for some people.
The pander stone is what Kathleen Kennedy uses to make StarWars stories. It is from the episode "joining the panderverse" in Southpark where Cartman is replaced by a black female from an alternate universe. Also references BG3 in several places like where Cartman skips school to play BG3 and the alt universe cartman freaks out when she loses access to her 50 hour play because she can't load her BG3 saves from the other universe.
@Brian_the_Brute But if it is a RPG than you can kill them all, right?
