How to spell recharge without long rest
"Usually, I cast this and use a Spell Recharge to be at full spells."

So says one guide about Gale using mage armour. However how can you recharge your spell slots without a long rest?

Items and potions. There are two very good necklaces which restore spell slots.
And as Sorceress you can use your metamagic charges to restore spell slots.

If Gale is a secondary character then you can just dismiss him, wait for him to restore his health and spell slots on his own, and then recruit him again also. You can also re-spec at Withers and get some of your resources back, then just pickpocket the money you spent back with no penalty for failure. It might also be referring to the wizard's Arcane Recovery ability.

Right that too is a wizard standard. Though I would not use it like that, I guess. Not when items can do the same. Especially not that easily for a level 1 slot.

Mid-late game there are two potions that recover party members like they rested. 1 is for short rests, the other for long rests. The character must sleep uninterrupted for 2 turns to recover. I just use the potions outside of combat.

90% sure that guide is just referring to the wizard's pool of arcane recovery charges, which gives a limited number of spell slots back between long rests.

This pretty much. Mage armor can also be gained by a number of items.

I personally never bothered with mage armor. If you position correctly you don't even need it.

Tip: always try to use line of sight (LoS) to your advantage on your ranged characters. You can usually hide them behind a pillar or rock after they've casted their spells.

My take is that it's a first level spell slot that doesn't need concentration, and almost every first level spell that's better is a ritual so what else am I going to use it for.
