Two totally different games since BG3 is a turned base style fighting system.
Start with Cyberpunk 2077. It is cheaper.
I love both and spent a lot of time playing both, also thanks to modding, btw.
You can get Cyberpunk for a very good price now already, though and spring sales will come so maybe you will get BG3 on sale too.
These are not games that you have to choose from 2. These are the few games these days that deserve to be on your device.
Nowadays, there is too much conveyor belt ♥♥♥♥ coming out, which for some reason is called games. But usually there is no art, there is no inspiration, there is no soul. Nowadays there are a lot of filler games, after which you will say - I’m probably too old for games. These 2 games can restore your gaming potency.
Okay, it’s clear that you have an either-or choice. But still, there should be another question here - which game should I buy first, and which second?! And this is actually a difficult question. Buying Cyberpunk without an add-on is doubtful, because the variability of the base game is, to put it mildly, questionable. The game opens up with the addition. This is if we are talking about roleplaying. In this case, will you think that I will suggest you buy BG3 first?
-No, I won’t suggest this, because this is a wonderful game, one of the best role-playing games (note that there are not so many party role-playing games, and there are even fewer worthy ones - you have enough fingers on your hands to name the worthy ones in recent years 10) in terms of wagering over the last 5-10 years? Once again, this is a great party game, but the caveat lies in exactly 3 things.
1) Firstly - patches. The Larians are still fixing the game and improving it. - This may (or may not) affect bugs during playthrough. This is especially true for mods, and you will want to play with mods if the game hooks you - trust me.
2)Secondly - the limit of 13 levels will lead you to the fact that the progression stops in the middle of the 3rd act, and this is very bad. Because character progression in role-playing games is one of the cornerstones.
3) Thirdly, you will want to increase the immersion in the game and add a new incentive to expand the number of levels that can be obtained through mods. Oh, yes, regarding mods - see point 1. )))
So I guess I advise you not to buy any of these games and not to play these wonderful games that are made with love. )))
By that, I mean, CPDR tends to do this, whether with Witcher (fantasy) or CP2077 (sci-fi) -- do first person fixed-protagonist ARPGs with much focus on action play -- not even a pause key. I don't HATE those games -- I like Diablo for what it is, for example - they are just not my favorite style. I really couldn't get into the Witcher games either. Also why Elden Ring didn't click for me.
I know you can get temporary companions like Johnny Silverhand, but they kinda seem like temporary mercs. Not really, per se, a party-based game.
On the other hand, I really DID like the Shadowrun games as, well, yeah they mix a bit of fantasy into the cyberpunk, but more importantly, the later titles like SR: Hong Kong (2015), were more my kind of style, tactical, party-based, less of a FPS or ARPG.
If anybody was making that style of Shadowrun title in 2024, I'd be grabbing it in a heartbeat.
Cyberpunk is terrible and it boggles why anyone would think it's good. Bad story, badly written main characters, underwhelming Ubisoft style open world, poor RPG elements, questionable and floaty combat that lacks impact. The only thing good about it are the side characters and their associated quest lines.
You are, of course, entitled to your opinion but that doesn't change the reality though and Cyberpunk is nothing of what you are criticizing. Nothing
If you like turn based combat, real choice(both story and rpg leveling, equipment), and dialog get BG3. Its a much better game and delivers on what it said it would do.
Buy Cyberpunk if you want to use ray tracing and see pretty lights. Outside of that better stories and combat exist in other FPS games. I would highly recommend playing Prey over Cyberpunk.
Edit: Prey is 30$ right now but always goes on sale for less than 5$. Wishlist and pick up next sale.
I was checking out your gaming library so my recommendation is based on that: I would recommend you CP2077 ... most of the games you have in your library are about the gameplay - gameplay is fine and you should have a fun time.
I think BG3 will be too slow for you, even tho BG3 excels in every other part compared to CP2077 - and BG3 is also not the pinnacle of writing as well but thats just my opinion.
