No more mods until next patch
Norbyte has announced he will no longer be updating the Script Extender until at least the next patch due to the toolchain changes with the .exe

So if your mod requires SE, put away the game. Going to be a while. Details on reddit, larian, Nexus etc...

Misleading title. Most mods users do not care.

To be fair, i care. I won't play a game without Appearance Edit Enhanced mod to change some of the characters, Transmog or some class mods.

Of the 37 mods I'm using right now 😋only 4 require SE.

The only one that I consider "necessary" is a Tutorial Chest summoning mod which strangely seems to be working. It would be nice to have the more frequent autosave mod working too (I'm assuming it doesn't), but I'll just have to manage. As the other two, not necessary.

However, I sympathise with both Norbyte and other players.

I blame myself for any problems. I set the game to update only with launch, and yet when I saw a Hotfix was up, I downloaded it. 😮

You can still play with mods with the workaround to revert to patch 6. If the HF18 only fixed what they published in the HF notes and you want to play with mods that repend on SE, we can live without the HF :-)

An acceptable compromise.

When the next patch or HF is released, they will check everything again and we can discuss things again :-)

Is the workaround reliable? I wouldn't want to mess things up even further.

The workaround replaces the files updated by the HF18 (11 in total) with the original files prior HF, meaning (patch6). Downloaded directly from steam, so yes.

Backup all the replaced files first in case you do want to revert again to HF18 (and, just in case your savegames) and you will be fine.

I admire Norbyte. I respect him even though he won't do a version of Script Extender for Mac....

But because of that, I can't even use ANY mod that requires Script Extender, because I use Mac as my platform.

... my point being, I actually use dozens of mods, and NONE of them require Script Extender, because I can't use ANY that do. (And one IS a tutorial chest summoning mod.)

Am I therefore bothered by Norbyte doing this? No. Maybe I might feel differently if he gave Mac users a solid. I would LOVE access to the debug console in BG3 the way I had access to it in BG2.

... perhaps if he continues his tantrum, when Larian officially DOES offer official mod support, this will give them additional incentive to open up the scripts/debug console to modders/users so that Norbyte's hack is no longer needed.

there are QoL ones I miss.

like appearance change (hate karlach and shadowheart hair styles).
turning withers into a vendor, for the simulated town portal to sell loot :steamhappy:

also native camera tweaks has similar issues of not loading.

so will have to wait.

anyone have file for the appearance edit mod? it's disabled in nexus
i was reinstalling my mods and it was disabled while im in the middle of it

Script extender works with hotfix 19 along with all mods like appearence edit enhanced, no romance limit, party limit begone etc

SE is working fine 4 me. Dunno what all the fuss is about.
(There never was a problem with SE -- only HF#18.)
