About playing musical instruments
If I miss Alfila's instrument playing task, are there other ways to learn an instrument?
Of course, I mean methods other than changing careers. Maybe this is not important, but it is regrettable.

If you are not a Bard and missed the quest, I don't think so..well, unless you change some flags in the console or add yourself "Musical Instrument Proficiency" also via console e.g.
But maybe I'm wrong

The Performer Feat worked for me. (Yes. I wasted an ASI for the Performer feat.)

It's in talent. Learning an instrument. Alfila is a quest reward, but characters who haven't been rewarded can take skill pucks with levelling up. You can create a specific character for playing an instrument. The creation of mercenaries with 'Withers' is another way.

What I hope is that their team can add additional learning methods. After all, Alfila is not the only bard in this world, right?

Does this mean I lose a skill bonus point by making this choice? Just to play an instrument?! And I'm a warrior with a big sword

Or you dip 1 level into Bard (which is the same as "wasting" one feat). If you put 4 levels into bard (or 8), you won't lose on a feat and get the instrument proficiency.

Just thinking that I would "waste" an expertise just to play an instrument makes me feel a little melancholy.

For the first time, I really felt that I was stupid for missing a reward mission, and the progress of my mission made it impossible for me to choose to start over, after all, I had spent a lot of time

The life of a musician is a difficult one and requires dedication. :steamhappy:

My understanding is that the instrument ability is not lost when changing the class out of Bard, but I never tried that. One could think of it as Withers teaching the player an instrument. LOL

God, this is like choosing the wrong option when talking to your girlfriend and getting slapped.

Well, of course there are always easier ways and shortcuts to achieve what you want that will take 2 seconds but that means you are willing to follow the dark path ;-)

Embrace playing the instrument terribly, it's funny.

This is a valid point. The audio and NPC comments are priceless.

Question: Can a {CHA} Performance check with a 20 without instrument proficiency still work in BG3? (It probably wouldn't in tabletop 5e RaW. It'll probably work in 5e 2024 RaW, though.)

(Looks like WotC is going to start adding years to new editions instead of 5.5 or 6 or whatever. You have the 5e PHB (2024) and 5e DMG (2024) this year and MM (2025) next year.)

Should I start praying that Alfila isn't the only NPC in the world who can sing and play an instrument? Oh my god, playing an instrument is a wonderful thing. It attracts a lot of attention and makes me do a lot of sneaky things. Very convenient . Why would the production team only give such a one-time reward mission? It's so cruel.
