Sudden death while resting in the camp.

I was playing in honor mode and was met with a surprise sudden death in camp while resting. I just went to sleep (full rest), then the screen went black for a long period of time and after which I saw a message that my character had died.
Anyone had a similar incident?

Gale was death in my camp chest.

You can by the way kill him after you got elminster to stabilize the thing at the mountain pass way to act 2. But not before, unless you are Dark Urge (Hence the questions ;P)

Fact that there was a poisonous aura around him after he was killed, but I did not expect him to kill me in the camp. Especially since it didn't happen right away, but after a few nights.
This was my first evil roleplay, so suprice :).
