Because a Bard gets it immediately from the very first level as a spell to select and I personally have it in my playthrough started fresh with Update #6.
That isn’t good advice. Giving up a feat or ASI isn’t a good trade. You are better off getting a hireling and leaving them at camp to buff your party with Longstrider.

What he told you was free spells you can even make some money if you sell all the gear that hirelings have well at least break even depending on the setting you use.
