I already have Shadowheart in mind as the Druid, since a friend (unfortunately) spoiled me on a part of her lore that makes Druid very fitting for her.
Who should my other two companions be? The Barbarian and Ranger, that is. Astarion doesn't seem like the Beastmaster type, ngl. And, Karlach -does- work as the Wildheart, though.
I’d probably go with karlach eagle barbarian and astarion ranger ( but I’d pass on beastmaster and keep the hunter spec: Ranger class is already about survival even if you don’t focus on pets. Like a Druid is about nature even if they don’t summon animals or shapeshift ).
Gloom Hunter ranger would work within Astarian's story well.
Shadowheart as the Barbarian. If you want to question how this works, select Selune as your deity for the Paladin and let the sparks fly. (you can still romance her and there is no other impact other than some unique dialogue).
Kithyanki druid might seem odd, but it is a good way to take advantage of the races specific gear in BG3. You can use La'zael or the hireling (monk base). I take the spore-druid subclass for this. You deter ranged picking out the druid to rid them of their temp hit points by wearing the missile snaring bracers purchased from Arron in the grove. If you are set on Karlach, she will work here as well. Her fire damage will add to the melee damage if you choose to have her consume soul coins. But it would fit better to use Shadowheart here and keep Karlach as a Barabarian.
Why not use the actual tree huggers that are already in game without any reclassing?
Halsin Druid, Jaheira Druid, Minsc Ranger
A lot of game prior to being able to recruit/use them.
True but this can easily be gapped with hirelings that fit the classes
Does it mean its a band of boys that like to take bath in hot springs all together?
I think they want to start with a nature team, and those three are Act II onward.
Lately, I'm thinking because of Halsin's redundancy, he should really be a Shaman. I mean, maybe they just didn't notice when they made him Archdruid.
Then there's still the fitting hirelings without any reclassing ^^
None of the origin companions actually fit in regards of running this theme
I just have a druid(CoL)/cleric (life) main, Halsin, Jaheira, and Shadowheart in my party.. later I will drop Shadowheart in favor of Minsc just for the full nature rundown.
