What do you mean useful in the final fight? You just go past the enemies into the next part and then win?
Last play through I set up Aylin vs Larroakan and turned on both. Very fun fight - even did it 3-man so pala-Tav didn't fall yet again... RP-wise, it was taking out the trash x2. Don't need either's help and they're all impediments to peace and stability of BG.
I couldn't throw Aylin from the tower, but didn't think to put her in a container first then throw. Must do better in future.
Saving Rolan and co, 'betraying' Nightsong then killing Larroakan does lead to her secret vendetta letter left on the Tieflings. Cool little lore tidbit.
Because the question was originally posted on June 10th when I still hadn’t decided.
If you don't fight the wizard, then you have to fight Nightsong and her angels. It's a good fight. Whomever you decide to aid will ally with you in the final battle.
Not everyone does that save for Bouch and other YouTubers who use cheese strats. I fight all 4 encounters on my runs because 1) they're fun, 2) they let you actually USE the allies you recruited through Act III, and 3) because it's the only end-game we've really got that lets us play with our shiny new Act III toys properly.
