As Durge, her and Gortash are the only people actually nice to you that dont want to manipulate you for their own ends. Auntie Ethel even gives you a healing potion the first time you meet her. Sure, she wants your eye to remove the tadpol but its understandable to want something in return for your hard work.

Gortash is a true bro to Dark Urge. He genuinely missed him and was happy to see him when you reunite. I imagine it was getting pretty hard to tard-wrangle Orin and the General hahaha

Everyone else you meet just wants to use you for their own ends. The Emperor wants you to destroy the Absolute, your companions need constant saving and problem solving, everyone you talk too has some long, drawn out mission for you to do that usually involves travelling half way across the map and killing stuff.

Auntie Ethal was ready to help for the low, low cost of a single eye and Gortash just wanted to help you carry out your master plan...
