What happened to the autistic Tiefling kid?
Y'know, the one who doesn't talk. I saw him go into their little hideout and all the others made it all the way to Baldur's Gate, but he seems to be gone. What gives?

Do you call everyone who doesn't babble 24/7 autistic or what?

You obviously didn't talk to that character.
Given what happens between Act 1 and act 2 of the game, I'm guessing there's a very good chance the answer is 'died in the shadow-cursed lands' but I don't remember if you ever find his body or anything.

He never left the hideout after finding the Encyclopedia Druidica and some empty ration barrels to stack. And before you accuse me of something or some such, it's what I would have done.

I'm autistic, and the whole "can't stare people in the eyes" and "doesn't talk" thing he has going is clearly meant to be a representation of some degree of autism.

I did.

You don't, that's the thing. There's a note in a bottle from him to his dad where you also meet BOOOAAL, but that's all I was able to find.

There are actually a lot of reasons for that other than autism but hey, whatever makes you happy.

True, but I went with the most obvious one.

There are plenty of other conditions that would cause averting eyes (PTSD and psychopathy come to mind). Autism is as good of a reason as any.

BTW, Doni is apparently an orphan.
https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Doni

Rikka is his guardian, but not family. If she was killed (which can happen) ... he might have been also. Nobody else watching out for him.

He's not mute. He will speak if you have animals with you or are in wildshape (according to the Wiki; have never tried this.)

VA is female, though, ... Filon Jolly. Inb4 someone says this is pushing "gender ideology" or something. (It's not uncommon to use a female VA for a small child of any gender.)

The thing that gets me is his note to his dad that is discoverable (and easily missed) in the Underdark. I still don't know what to make of it.

Ive used speak with animals and it didn't do anything.

Why would that work? The kid isn't an animal himself. He only wants to talk to animals, but that's not the same thing at all.
