Regarding mod.io
Can it be completely ignored? I’m not referring to simply “not using it,” but truly ignoring it entirely. In some games, upon starting or merely playing, a new account was linked to a mod.io account. If you didn’t have one, one was created without your permission.

So, is that account automatically created, or can you avoid it altogether?

Games like TABS did that - without consent even. Yes. Not anymore, but before I brought it up in a thread. They changed it afterwards and even changed the FAQ for that.

I don’t care if it’s “just a few mouse clicks.” I avoid mod.io like the devil avoids holy water and would be sad if I had to set this game aside from now on.

And no, I don’t care if you don’t have a problem with it or if you find these views strange. It’s about the principle.

I do not wish for this, yet I still want to continue playing the game. Hence, this question.
I asked in a civil way - and expect you to do the same when you decide to answer.

Nobody here can answer that question. Your best bet is to either ask that question on the larian forums or contacting them via their support forms.
We can only speculate.
However the only time the community update referred to having to have an account was in regards to uploading and managing your own mods.
That's no definitive answer, though.

Thank you for your response. I will wait for an answer here, as this is where I purchased the game and where I expect to receive support. I am relieved that someone has responded pleasantly without this degenerating into a discussion of principles.

Well, Larian pretty much never responds here, so as I said the other ways might be better to get an actual response from Larian themselfes.

I obviously can't say officially but I would guess no?

My reasoning being that the GOG release is completely playable without internet access and it'd be odd to either change that or make the versions behave differently for mods when the GOG version is part of the reason they went with mod.io instead of Steam workshop anyway.
