Also, the food dispenser is not made with higher difficulties in mind and doesn't give enough supplies for a long rest. Not that supplies are an issue, but just one more reason to think the whole place is undercooked.
Yeah, it's still a cool find after so many hours, I agree.
I guess it's one of those moments where you don't expect the game to have proper lodgings available, since it wasn't established as being possible in either Act 1 or 2.
I only knew about it because I watched some Larian gameplay previews, where they specifically mentioned you could stay at Elfsong.
Wow, that seems odd to me.

This is why I prefer the camp at the docks.
Right, but the companions don't have their usual idle animations from camp, they just stand awkwardly each near their bed, as if they are soldiers about to be inspected in a barracks.

A room is just to sleep in. The real action is outside.
This is an "hotel" room... I'd find it very ackward if people assembled their tents in a suite... I welcome the fact that, for a LONG time, I finally have a decent bed to sleep and not the army-like tents... Luxury at last... After all the toil.
As for the food dispenser I agree, not that we need it but it could serve 80 rations and, since we're at it, not rations but tasty, and varied properly cooked food, soup, dessert, some candy, cookies, perhaps chocolate... All gourmet and exotic, perhaps caviar and champagne too.
