I mean:

We will never prevent modding outside of our own official pipeline, but implementing our own will improve compatibility and give us the opportunity to ensure they’ll work wherever you’re playing Baldur's Gate 3.
How you get from there to "they kill mods" is quite an acrobatic feat....

Here's what changes in September.

If the mod is on mod.io, they will offer official support for it.
If the mod is not - it's not being censored, it's not being (intentionally) disabled, it's just that if you install Remove All Gnomes From My Game (heh) and it starts crashing or doing weird sh*t, tech support at Larian is not going to help you. Which is the existing status quo for all mods at this point. (Though I think tech support WILL run you through the process of removing them all.)

Exactly as it should be. Anything but a scam.

It's Larian for god's sake. They may even buy mods from people, and implement them officially, like they did with D:OS2. I remember times, when most (if not all) of the (now) official mods (or as they call it "gift bags") were just normal Steam Workshop mods, like that one, improving the cat familiar/summon, or granting 8 max action points and so on. I wouldn't be surprised, if they did a similar thing with BG3.

I personally loved the sorting bags in dos2....and the mod for it in bg3...such a small mod, but it adds so much...I really hope they'll include that one...

The internet has told me: the important part is that the carpet matches the curtain. Though I might not agree with that...
People keep making those "copy paste" delusional posts about Larian and BG3.
Guys up there did not took the rights for the next BG game elsewhere for no reason.
Even the glitches and bugs with the disarming spells which started early in early access are still in the game to this day.

If people stopped being so complacent with everything due to MARKETING, maybe things would start to change.

Larian left Wizards, not the other way around, lol.

If you want an actual example of a game that only got attention due to its marketing and pedigree, look at Starfield. Was a total flash in the pan despite good sales.

BG3’s immense staying power is clear, and you can’t get that just from “marketing”.
