Can you gain Scarlet Remittance stacks using spells?

Hi!

I want to get the dagger Rhapsody, and I know that in order to get the Scarlett Remittance stacks, the weapon has to be equipped, and it only procs if you kill something living.
I'm wondering if it gives you the stacks even if you kill something with an equipped ranged weapon/dual-wielded offhand weapon/throwing weapon/a spell, or you have to make the kill with Rhapsody itself.

According to the wiki, you only need to have it equipped & kill living hostile enemies. https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Scarlet_Remittance

You only need to have it equipped, it is not necessary to directly use it.

Now I don't know exactly about spells, but it absolutely works with ranged weapons; as it always is my "Rogue equipment" I never tried it with anyone else ;)

Thanks for the answers. I would also like a confirmatioin about spells, as we'll continue our campaign next week, and I'm not the host, so I couldn't test it until then.

with lvl 12 Wizard Gale - so yes, it also works with spells, the Dagger just has to be equipped
(Steam converts unfortunately PNGs to JPGs with terrible quality but I think it's ok for the purpose)
