Cured Ending?
is there an ending to cure you as a custom character?

I kind of stopped playing after not being able find out (with out to much spoiling) if the player character gets cured some time in the game. So, with out to much spoiling,is there a path where the custom player character can get cured ?

To answer your question: yes, completing the game a certain way will mean the parasite is gone.

EDIT: second spoiler block isn't much more spoiler-y than the first, don't worry

I guess people honestly dont know even when they pretend to. lmao

But the "read dialogues" does work to understand that the answer is the same no matter how you end the game.

Basically ...

If you don't become a mind flayer, and do destroy the Netherbrain, the parasite is gone.

So of course are all your illithid tadpole powers; not like you have any more use for them, of course.

I guess it would be fun to mind blast everybody at the epilogue party, but ...
Ok, so no one really reads the dialogue.
When a mindflayer parasite is stopped before ceremorphosys, it cant be removed. While it might be dormant, it becomes part of the brain of the host. No matter how many "elder brains you kill".

What DnD says about it is either you get powers from partial transformation, you get kinda "DID" with the dormant parasite, or some part of your body manifests transformation when the parasite becomes inert.

But there is no removing the parasite, and it does not "leave" unless you are dead.

That is said almost the whole game by N characters all the time.

Plus DnD manual says that too.

thats okay you can just get someone to kill you, physically yank out any parasite in there and any alien tissue while at it, then get a bard or cleric with access to level 7 spells to cast resurrection on you before 100 years go by after you get your friend to murder you

Is that possible in the game? That would be an interesting way to "Cure" your self lol.

Since apparently there's some confusion as to whether it is indeed the case or not, I'd provide the following bits of information. Big spoilers ahead.

At the point of decision between destroying the Netherbrain or dominating it, the dialogue option in favor of destruction is (provided your character is not the one tasked directly with doing so):

Player: "Go ahead. Command the brain to DESTROY ALL TADPOLES and then itself." (emphasis my own)

Then, according to the narrator, the tadpole 'burns' inside the character's head, while the Netherbrain slowly descends and crashes into the water, proceeding then to blow up, leaving no visible trace. It is unclear whether the brain and the tadpoles were destroyed in exactly the same manner on a smaller scale, as we can't see inside our characters' heads.

However, since the presence of the tadpoles is no longer felt (as mentioned by Shadowheart in the following line on the docks):

Shadowheart: "I can't feel the tadpole... they must have all died with the brain - that means we can't turn into mind flayers!"

It's a reasonable inference to make that the tadpoles are no longer physically there, thus the characters are 'cured'.

Hope that helps.

Yes, there is an ending for this.

no but assuming your characters survive the game *eventually* they will meet people with access to the resurrection spell and/or unlock it(or other ways to deal with a tadpole or worse) themselves

i.e a wizard tav/durge/gale would eventually get to the point of being able to cast the wish spell, assuming they dont die/retire before getting to that point or some other plot contrivance happens, at which point they can use wish to do what wish does
