Disarming gas traps - Look for vents
Hoarding items to sell is always a must. However they also supplement in disarming traps. EG throwing something into a trap to activate it, or throwing junk rusted items to block vents. Blocking the vents do require a certain amount of weight though. .5 lbs works for me.

in my last plaaythjough hardly any traps went off even after walking directly on top of them multiple times. Game is buggy AF

I had huge issues finding the vents in the fog. The traps? No problem. Usually an arrow will set them off. If not, yes, throw something at them.

The thing about traps is many of them won't trigger if you're not hostile to the folks in the area. The bank vault is loaded with traps ... which won't trigger if you have the vault pass. On my first playthru, I totally didn't get this. I started disarming the traps ... which aggro'd the nearby guards. Yeah, don't touch them, you don't need to. The Zhent lair is loaded with traps, which you can ignore if you've made a temporary alliance with them. Etc.

Also, one thing that seems to be the case is a lot of traps are really a duo - there's the trap itself, then there's the plate that triggers it. If you disarm the triggering plate, you really don't have to disarm the trap itself (gas vents, or anything else); it won't go off. So you don't need to waste 2 disarm attempts on both the trigger plate and the trap itself.

I either disarm or just trigger them if I don't feel like spending time on them. Most traps don't do a whole lot of damage. There's only a few nasty ones such as the act I crypt, act 2 underground mason's guild, and the one guarding the necronomicon.
