Interactions between companions ( reaction to the tav choices ) are a big part of the game.
Getting 4 tavs adds, unfortunately, literally nothing but being able to make all choices ( rather than swapping on the main character during some dialogues ). That and being able to decide Aesthetic and, if the player plays just for numbers/stats, the race they find most approriate in terms of bonus for a given class/build.
I have played 5/6 runs 3p and 4p, and while me and my group had a blast no matter what, I kinda missed the possibility to play as a support companion rather than a tav ( not saying it should have been a default choice, but rather a possibility ).
Being able to choose whether to have crown or to move "true" companions ( with limited choices in dialogues, like in sp ) would have been perfect to me ( the fact you have to repeat scenes is because having 4 tavs is meant for mp purposes only, but I can see that being annoying in sp ).
