I'd just levelled up and got all the cool loot from the Inquisitor room so I was feeling super strong and then bam, overconfidence and not respecting my enemy enough led to that honour mode run ended lol.
Gith don't mess about!
One was also real early in my attempts and the other way later.
(Wouldn't believe how many posts of people complaining about it wasn't fair that insulting someone who considers herself a deity right to her face would result in death without recourse.)
I wish I had a friend to seriously try honor mode at some point. It would have made it so much easier and more gratifying. But I after the first few attempts I basically never tried to kill Grym, the spectator, do Thaniel's quest, the hag unless I could instantly blow her up with explosive filled backpack nuke in the teahouse when I eventually concocted the strategy of doing that and using arcane lock on the stairs just in case, or fight the Drider with anything less than 3 sanctuary moonbeam combos. It was incredibly tedious.
Another thing that helps is if you are cheesing merchants for infinite gold, or just have enough money regardless, the merchants resupply every time you level up so you can level one character, do a run of all the merchants for scrolls/potions/reagents then level another and do it again and again. at the end of the game I had a stash of ~2000 health potions and greater health potions just in case.
Use slow on the Grym, no reason to be dying there with that 1 spell. Enter moonrise from docks in the rear, don't ever go in through the front door with the enemies all set up. Same goes for the next to final battle, either go invisible and sneak to the elevated platform or fly to one of the towers in front if you want more of a battle...or find the secret upper city sewer route on the left that gets you to the elevated platform in the back right corner.
Meanwhile here's a youtube video of Mae clearing honor mode in less than 19 minutes....

You know, that you can enter moonrise without having to fight, before you free the nightsong? And you can even kill all the cultists beforehand and just walk in later to fight Ketheric.
