Is the Adamantine Armor worth it? (potential spoilers)
Lae'zel is my only regular who can wear it. My party is casters and dex-based, most mobs can only crit me with arrows because their dead before coming into melee range.
I'm on my third time going to the forge which is a pain, with the elevators and misty steps and all that's required to get there. I cleared out the Derugar and did the Creche--only the Golem is left is that adamantine armor essential? or do you get better armor coming up?

It's okay, nothing crazy

In some fights being uncritable is a big boon - others not so much.

Also if you use a build that can take advantage of imposing conditons, using the shield to impose reeling is very good (like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55WkExA19os or similar)

It’s pretty decent, but if you only have one or two armour wearers you’ll likely find that it gets replaced by the end of act 2, sometimes earlier depending on what you’re focusing on.

It is however worth it for the XP, and the armour is good enough that I’d rather get it than not.

If it's not an honor run, sure, go for it. If it's an honor run, the stakes are much higher & I recommend fighting it only at level 9 or 10.

It's very good and will still be good on act 3. I wouldn't call it essential, but definitely one of the best options (medium or heavy).

Food for thought. Thank you.

I think it's more useful at that point in the game than the adamantine weapons.
ULTRA Mar 5, 2024 @ 7:43am
The best adamantine items are the heavy and medium armor and the shield. If you slap heavy armor proficiency, the adamantine splint armor, a Gale-based warding bond, elixir of bloodlust and the skinburster on Lae'Zel then she's nearly immortal to conventional damage

Yep, ULTRA is spot on. I frequently utilize Adamantine armors in all my runs. Crit nullification and damage reduction help a ton in Tactician mode. Use them well through an entire campaign.

I tend to make both medium and heavy adamantine armours and most of the time I use the medium one for the rest of the game on Karlach, Barbarian with crit immunity is *chef's kiss* IMO, and the heavy armor until some of the Act 3 armors.

In your party only Lae'Zel uses heavy or medium armor? How about shields then?

My suggestion (assuming you have two characters who can use shields) would be you give Lae'zel the helmet (prevents crits) and two other characters the shields (reeling, prevents crits).

If you have only one shield-user (but why???), then you could give Lae the heavy armor.

I tend to prioritize the shields and the medium armor because I never replace them, versus the heavy armor that is the best available until Act 3, but does get replaced in Act 3. The helmet works to give a heavy armor user crit immunity.

The shield is by far the most useful piece, the armour is good for two-handed characters until you find better gear as being crit-proof is massive at that point in the game. From what I remember, the weapons were kind of a waste of the ore since there's better options. :2016bee:

Absolutely, the ability to negate crits can save you more than once. Although I prefer the shield + one set of armor.

Honor mode level 6 is fine, just did that last week. Cast slow on the grym. It can only move to the middle in 1 turn and then is stuck there for repeated hammer blows. He knocked a few of my party over stomping but didn't have any movement to get up and chase me anywhere. Was easier than the Nere fight with slow keeping it under control.

The shield is the best item. The med/heavy armor is second choice but there's better later on it doesn't have any synergies like the luminous armor you could already have. There's about 10 different armors that could easily replace it depending on your class and equipment.

The weapons are weak and already obsolete. Jorgoral's sword you can get right before that is better and Lathander's mace is better than the adamantine one. The scimitar might be useful for a dual wielder for a while, but there's several others like Belm and Justiciar's scimitar that will replace it later.

The weapon descriptions could be deceptive if you don't read the fine print. They only critical objects, not enemies in combat and are just +1, so it is the EXP and the shield that are the main rewards.
Very strong Act 1-2 Medium Armour for anyone proficient in it (if no-one's proficient in it then you can happily ignore it).

But the Heavy Armour is not only also quite strong for Act 1-2 Heavy Armour, but on top of that it also sells for 3k+ gold. So it's a pretty nice investment for your coinpurse.

Add onto that the fact that the golem fight is fun means I can't imagine skipping it myself, but to each their own, I'm sure you can still complete the game just fine without doing that bit.
