Am I wrong for liking Pathfinder WOTR more???
While I enjoy a good old RPG with some great dialogue, my biggest issue with BG3 is the lack of increased speed during combat. Along with nearly every character having that ridiculous speech pattern that is so prevalent across many voice acted games. You know, where they talk slowly and purposefully instead of at a normal pace.
- So far only the druid Halsin has not done that. And Karlach for the most part.

I'm also craving some high AC, more magical weapons, and higher powered gameplay.

IDK. I'm not hating the game, but kind of feeling bored by the game.

Anybody else thought this?

There is no right or wrong, just personal preference.

My main issue with the pf games is that after 20 years they don't change of the original IE games (even the ground markers are the same), while at the same time they have more cartoony graphics(unity engine not doing it any favors tbh) and a more bloated ruleset(and to this day the pf has this "we have forgotten realms/pathfinder/etc at home" kinda vibe to me xD). Larian games imo dared to do draw inspiration from many more types of games and therefore are more interesting.

For reference here is what some 2e art looked like... compare it with a pathfinder art google image search to see what I mean... was it grittier, more dangerous? Is pathfinder art too stylized? I dunno, but it doesn't evoke dangerous adventure to me at all. xD

MORE magic weapons? Really?

I found that I was swimming in the things from midway though Act 2 onwards. There’s so many magic weapons that by the time you get spells like Magic Weapon it’s completely superfluous

Personal preference I guess. Never played Pathfinder but finding BG3 a refreshing change of pace from Elder Scrolls Online which has very fast based real time combat and can get very tiring. But I have played and loved many games including ones with no combat at all. It depends what I feel like at any given time.

You are entirely entitled to your opinion.

I would love to give WoTR another go but there are a few things that are really hard to get over, mostly gameplay wise.

I only finished Kingmaker due to being locked in during COVID.

Both are just games. You enjoy what you enjoy.

No, of course not. There are some things I feel Pathfinder does better. I dislike having a hardcap of 4 spells per level on any spell caster in this game, for example. However the thing that held Pathfinder back for me was I felt my role playing options were being hamstrung. For example when you are bestowed the title of Commander your only reactions are either "this is the best thing that's ever happened to me" or "I deserve this and now I'll rule with an iron fist". I found the ability to roleplay a certain way to be very black and white. BG3 allows for better role playing. But that's just me, and that's not me telling you you're wrong for enjoying that game over this.

Nah, you like what you like.
I thought WotR was great once they got the horrendous pile of launch bugs taken care of, though the entire "We have heroes of might and magic at home" minigame was a horrible slog best disabled and the writing around the alignment system often felt borderline nonsensical to me personally, but there's a lot to like in the game.
I personally prefer BG3 for a bunch of reasons but they're both good games.

No, you're not wrong. You have your own preferences and that's fine. Although I have no clue what you mean by "ridiculous speech patterns". Do you not interact with many real people, because the pace at which the characters talk is pretty much the same as how real people talk.

WOTR is also a very good CRPG overall, there's nothing wrong having a preference.

That’s RTwP right?

Yes. People who enjoy RTwP have latent cognitive issues.

Yes you are totally wrong. You are not allowed to have any personal preferences or subjective taste, but are in fact obligated to like everything that you encounter. Even better, everything you encounter is obligated to appeal to you, so make sure to make a forum post whenever you find something that you don't like. It is incredibly valuable information and everyone is greatly enriched by it.

Also, please do make a list of what food you like and dislike. Trust me, that is deeply relevant to other people.

Personally, I liked that WotR had the RTwP option. I am not a RTwP hater, and don't mind CRPGs that use it. And all I can say is, I especially loved having RTwP when Owlcat threw its 800th random encounter with a batezu and 2 other demons at me. and dealing with its other trash mobs. I also would have preferred fewer trash mobs and random encounters. In tough boss fights, I used the turn-based. So I used both, and don't mind having the option. THAT SAID, it's hard to design encounters for both options, and Owlcat really failed on that attempt.

I also know, cause I played, that WotR lets you have a party of six with up to level 20 characters. This game is not balanced for that. I also don't care, and then use mods (party limit begone and unlock level curve) so I can remove both "artificial" caps; depending on my mood, I may use mods to help rebalance, but honestly I usually don't. If you want more magic weapons, you can even get +5 stuff at Nexus. It's once again "unbalanced" for THIS game, I personally don't care, I'm letting you know it exists.

I have no problems with the dialogue and VA'd cutscenes in this game. Which is not to say, I won't hit spacebar when I'm seeing the exact same lines for the 5th time. But otherwise.

There were other things I disliked about WotR and they are reasons I think THIS one is the better game. (I'm not saying I hated WotR or didn't replay it more than once. But, again, this is my view.) I'm only dealing with the things you asked.
