And if you're playing cleric and don't want to be the healbot, then you need a second cleric to do it instead.
May have to test that out, when I'm doing another franchise run before Avowed comes along. Unless Cipher still has it's claws around me.
Hard disagree. Healing in DnD, and thus, in BG3 is EXTREMELY marginal. You cannot outheal incoming damage, unless you build yourself around healing. If you have to heal often in fights, something's gone wrong.
I only keep one healing speal on a cleric at anytime, simply because it's really not good, and only serves as getting characters back up from a distance.
Clerics are AOI damage dealer, who's main job is to both do widespread damages and inflicts statuses, while having some pretty brutal single target option.
It's harder to build than the traditional striker, but if you are build your cleric as a healbot, you are doing it very wrong. If you want a healer class, you go druid, or even mage sometimes.
Some of the more specialized abilities like life domain are alright heals. But it's definitely not a normal thing to depend on and most healing spells are rather terrible.
Maybe for newcomers, but I think most roleplayers don't really care. Plenty of info around the deities, and if you are curious, you can just watch a couple of videos to get an idea of who does what.
Same reason people play Loth-sworn drow, role-playing purposes.
Anyway, D & D clerics are NOT just healbots. You want them and paladins when you are facing demons, devils, or undead and various unholy things ... the latter two are quite all over the place in this game. They are more than just buffers or support. Go into the War Domain and they get very good at introducing mace to face. Also, they get a decent selection of offensive magic.
You can even leave Shart at camp and just have her join temporarily to cast things like aid and hero's feast and then kick her back out of the group.
I will let Shart adventure with the group when there's undead to be killed. There's also a couple of items that boost the weak heals and gives everyone blade ward and extra HP with a simple mass healing spell, but you will typically lower your parties damage output with a cleric around taking up a slot.
Closer to "OMG, I casted one spell and now half the terrain is unsuable and everyone on it brutally died".
Again, good clerics do not ♥♥♥♥ around. They believe in gods and will send you to meet them.
Like 90% of the classes in this game can kill 5+ enemies in one turn.
