Duergar quest line, finding enough smokepowder
somewhere I found two smoke powder bombs which I used to blow the cave-in and free Nere. But there is another cave-in blocking the way to the forge.

Anyone know where I can find more smokepowder bombs, or blackpowder barrels if those will work? I recall there was a room in the goblin camp temple with like a dozen blackpowder barrels but (and a small hole to explore). I blew all those up so I could navigate the room and can't think of where any others were.

Thanks much for any suggestions anyone may have!

What do you mean "another cave-in blocking your way to the forge"? There are ways to get to the forge without going through any cave-in.

If it's the blockage I'm thinking of, you can also use speak with animals to convince the rothe to clear the way (and/or fight the duergar with you).

If it is that one there are also other ways just to skip it.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm in the Duergar city and the quest "Adamantine Forge" has a task "clear the rubble" which has a quest marker on a rubble pile at the north west end of the city.

What are the other ways to get there?

Have you tried hitting it with a blunt weapon? Also if you killed the Roathe you may have messed up.

Yes, I had Shadow Heart summon a maul spirtual weapon but it can't damage the cavein.

I killed the Duergar in that area which caused the Rothe to attack, so yeah, they're dead. Oops.

Any other solutions to clearing the cave-in or alternate routes to the forge?

Thanks!

How to I skip it? It's the cave-in at the northwest end of the city. I killed the Rothe in a battle with the Duergar many battles ago.

The rubble is susceptible to force damage if I remember correctly- maybe Wyll or Gale can use some force-damage spells to crack it open?

There's a path to the Forge from the area you fight Nere, just before you reach the bit where the sergeant and the gnomes were. Outcrop you can jump to with a chest on it, walk up there and it takes you to the controls for the walkway leading to it.

You'll need to use Lae'zel's psionic jump or equivalent to get onto the main path so you can get someone to trigger the fast travel point to the Forge entrance, but that's pretty straightforward. You don't really miss out on anything important avoiding the cave-in entry point.

The area where Nere was trapped is very close to the forge. You can jump from that area into the forge area or use Misty Step. Just pan the camera around the edges of that area and you'll see the way.

Yeah, that part is completely unnecessary. I didn't even stumble across it until my third play through. Hell, first time through I reached the Forge using feather fall from the little platform with the leavers near it and had no clue what the forge was because I'd derped my way past all the NPCs and note clues about it without noticing them. XD

As others have said, a big jump and/or a misty step are the easiest ways to get there without clearing the rubble. Also Wyll or another warlock can usually just eldritch blast through the rubble (might need repeated attempts).

In the future, you can get that rubble unblocked using speak with animals if you go there *before* the fight with the duergar.

Gale's Chromatic Thunder Orb helped me clear it in past playthroughs

You can get another smoke powder from Barcus' pack in the Blighted Village, too. Not to mention a whole load of regular bombs from vendors and stuff that I think work too.

i forgot what are the property of that blockage.

if it is just Sturdy or less. you can get a character (either respec it or get hireling). equip with 2 hand blungeoning weapon (e.g. Maul). get great weapon master at level 4. you can gurantee damage it.

if it is medium toughness, it should still possible to do 22 damage with enough strength. 1d10+10 (GWM) + str. just harder that's all. then just bash your way in

The Deep Rothe will clear the standard way to the forge for you if you play your cards right, but oh well....

It only takes 1 smokepowder barrel to clear rubble, The Zhents have about a dozen barrels of it, but you would either have to fight them or go back and sneak in solo and invisible to get some from them, which I have done.

I never even found the 2 sources of explosives on the other side of the boat canal until my second play. You need 2 satchels to clear rubble, or 1 vial of rune powder...both of those are in the forge area on the other side of where the boat comes in.
