The Creche is tougher so getting some levels in the Underdark first is the better choice
I tried the Creche after the main area (having sacked the Grove)... Suffice it to say that after the first serious encounter, I decided to find a way to the Underdark. :)
But you might be more skilful than me. Up to you.
P.S. The difficulty was on Honour/ equal to Tactician for non-bosses/
Underdark
Edit: Would say even before clearing the goblin camps or sacking the grove do everything in the first two areas (includiing forge ) before making a choice makes the party more fun and then hit the pas sand straight on to moonrise after the gith
Underdark, Creche, Mountain Pass - or revert it if you like it long and hard. Your fights.
Mountain Pass is the Creche. ;)
Unless you count a certain fight with certain undead.
I would advise to leave the Creche for last. The others should be manageable at either 5 or 6th level
The pass to the creche updates the world state, some act 1 stuff may be messed up etc. Going into the underdark does not have any effect on the world.
Underpass is good experience but honestly you'll get access to better gear through vendors in the Creche and if you do the side quests you'll get good equips and decent xp also.
The underdark section also gets you some pretty good loot to help during the creche's many combat encounters.
