Normally I go with standard array. Or to make a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up character, roll 1d20 per stat
this is a interactive lgbtq high school comedy with some fighting inbetween (that would be much less of the gametime if the ai would not be so atrociously slow)
(also haven't spent much time on any system after AD&D)
No, it's not. And I am a tabletop veteran. I don't know how "hardcore" I was. My D & D group used to homebrew a lot, even back in that ancient antidliluvian era. I also happen to think point buy is better for a video game, even if rolling is better for tabletop.
I will say this - Solasta may be closer to the 5E RAW tabletop rules. If other aspects of the game weren't atrocious, I'd consider it. Because I don't honestly care about that much, I prefer this one.
If you want to roll for stats, there is a mod.

Doesn't interest me, but might, others.
(No idea why this should be a good thing, as not a D&D player, but then you have rolled your dice...)

it also has diversity and everything just not to the ludicrous degree bg3 has done it.
Point buy is meant to be about having you make decisions and trade offs about the kind of character you want to play, rather than just re-rolling sets of dice until you get a set that works for the class you wanted to play (which is how it worked in the 80s).
I don't give a "♥♥♥♥" about diversity -- as a buzzword.
The dungeon creator, the community made content: awesome.
I understand it's much more to my liking with the last DLC (Palace of Ice) (all races & classes and levelling to 16) and the Unfinished Business Mod (parties of 6)
Now, what I'm not too crazy about -- going off watching gameplay videos, mind:, never tried it yet:
Very little interactivity with NPCs
Party member quests driven by background and character sheet only (boring)
Lack of real personalities for party members
Potatohead graphics, VA that sounds like they recorded their drunk uncle, and low quality over all.
No full D & D license, so a lot of iconic content is missing.
I only watched playthrough of the original dungeon. (Crown of the Magister). It looked like some of the worst dungeons ever made by hobbyists for NWN2.
OK, if we're gonna be blunt - seemed to me like it sucked. Over to you.
I'm pretty non-plussed by Solasta. I only got the vanilla game, thinking I'd try that out before buying DLC. The characters are 100% yours to customize, and 100% have no personality. They have a few traits that will make their dialogue options slightly different, but none of that seems to have any effect on game play. I do like the idea of playing/making community content (which requires one of the DLC, fwiw), but I'm just not finding a lot to like in the core game.
