Confession: I've stopped using Astarion and Shadowheart for good.
Now I use them for evil.

I killed Astarion in my current playthrough.

I guess I'll try to keep him alive next one, since I do want to try out combo of Shadow monk/Rogue assasin

I couldn't figure out how to be mean enough to her that she would choose to kill the Deva on her own without causing her to leave the party before the encounter. (You can make her choose, and supposedly how she's been treated or persuaded up until that point will decide what she'll do. For me, she always threw away the weapon regardless if I didn't respect her history and mission. I'm starting to wonder if she'll always do that.)

There's probably a guide on it. When I come back to the game, I'll look for one.

Assuming you're talking about DAME AYLIN, she's an Aasimar, not a Deva.

And yes, Shadowheart can definitely choose to stab DAME AYLIN. I've had it happen to me once, when Shadowheart's approval was fairly low because I only had her in the party once. That could be it.

I've heard it's a dialogue thing.

If you choose specific dialogue Aylin will mention Shadowheart's history with wolves, which makes her hesitate before ultimately throwing the spear away. If you don't pick that dialogue then Aylin doesn't bring it up and Shadowheart kills her by default.

Nope. DAME AYLIN brought up the wolves and Shadowheart stabbed her anyway.

Semantics. In BG3, she's an Aasimar, but she's not 5e RaW Aasimar. She has way more abilities than a 5e Aasimar has even at high levels. Her story and abilities match a 5e RaW Deva. So, I'll keep calling her a Deva.

I could be mistaken, though. It's been a while since that playthrough.

That's like calling Barcus a Halfling, but alright, you keep being wrong on purpose, I guess.

Good thing this isn't 5e RaW then

I still call Pluto a planet bc in my heart he always is one <3 /s

Dame Aylin is an Aasimar - they mention it several times in canon
