My BG3 just decided to... uninstall itself??

Do you know what could be the issue? It's been going well without any crushes (and I have more than 300 hours) and suddenly the game quits during one of the fights and... disappears from my computer. I am not sure what has happened, I tried to open it once but it just went "validating" and "installing". Weird thing. It would be funny if it erased all of my progress haha

Perhaps do an antivirus and malware scan while you're waiting for it to reinstall

Funny thing, I was doing my evil playthrough. maybe I was too evil...

I also recently had the game crash and then reinstall itself.

Perhaps it was an accumulation of too many patches. Sometimes it's better to just install a fresh build.

It cannot uninstall itself if you own it.

Usually happens when Steam encounters a corrupt .acf file. All the files are still there so it shouldn't affect your saves.

sometimes steam 'forgets' about your non C: drives, and since it cant find the game on your other drives it just prompts you to install it, check for that
