Honor Mode Fails

I've now lost three honor mode runs to bugs.

1) Portal from the astral plane disappeared. Game over.
2) Angry Zhentarim whose friends I'd killed in their hideout were invited to the party after saving the grove. They were still mad, turned the whole camp against me. Game over.
3) Fighting the Avatar of Myrkul, after having killed Ketheric for a second time, only to have Ketheric spawn into the fight, fully healed. Game over.

It's ridiculous that these sorts of bugs are in the game, but at least it comes up with creative ways to screw you over.

Two things,

A- never ran into any of those, and I'm on my 10th playthrough

B- always keep a restore option in case such thing happens. I can direct you toward some sources if you want to restore a FH run lost to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bugs. glitches happens, especially in a game that large, expecting otherwise is both hopefull and naive.

Personally I've had to restore my FH because of Shar's elevator of death

You can just manually backup the save file. Take the entire folder not just the save itself. It's highly recommended when attempting honor mode in case of a major bug. Some people are insistent that they're able to finish the game with little to no bugs, but that's not been the experience of many of us. I still gets tons of bugs even in Act 1, which is the 'highly polished' act.

do you know the name of this file?
Minth bugged out during her rescue and i had to kill her...wish i could reload that. it wouldnt feel like cheating because it was just a bug. Noy a huge deal gives me a reason to make gale a bardadin..

once had Karlach dissapear when grabbing "the light of lathandar" ..she didnt even leave her gear or anything. Combat log just read "Karlach has left the party"...lol. luckily that was not an honor run

I just completed my first honour mode game and only had a bug with Karlach turning invisible as well as stuck scene where I was supposed to get a dialog. For me, it helped saving, then closing the game and the reopening the game. Then Karlach wasn't invisible anymore and my dialog started correctly.

What some folks fail to grasp is just how much fun Honor Mode would be if not for the bugs. My first few hours were a blast, especially since I hadn't finished the game on any other mode. Then I hit the Rumbler bug. Restarted. My party killed me because I went to sleep instead of shaking Shart awake...restarted.

I finished it, got my trophy and dice and no desire to ever return to Honor Mode. What's the point?

The ridiculous amount of RNG in the game keeps killing the fun of honor mode for me. I've had runs where I crushed all the early encounters, and runs where the early game was a disaster. Only difference was the quality of the dice rolls. Later on your party is more resilient and you have a lot of ways to compensate for bad luck, but the first few hours can be very frustrating.

Some of gameplay systems being half-baked doesn't help either.

If you lose a FH run, an instruction bloc gets added to your savefile data to specify the failure. This reddit thread details where to get the conversion tools, as well as what to edit to get it to work.

I have completed Honor Mode on ps5 and PC but do to a bug/glitch I do not have the achievement. I contacted Larian and submitted my saves for inspection, they acknowledged my saves but did not have a solution for me at this time. They say an upcoming patch will address the issue, and yet I have no golden dice

I've already lost a few toons to honour mode.

Working on honour mode myself. Losing one because I of a choice I made is something I accept as a fact of life. I just carry on and don't sweat it. My main anxiety with this is dumping 40+ hours into the game and losing it due to a bug.

Suggestion: Avoid this depressing Seemingly-all-or-nothing.
Just unplug your PC to avoid losing hours upon hours and keep your Honour status. Your last save, be it 2 hours ago or 20 minutes ago, is where you will reload into.
