As for Orin, two small facts to shift a bit your idealistic, sympathetic picture about her
First, she's not a direct Bhaalspawn, but a product of incest between resurrected Sarevok and his own daughter (the very same she killed at the age of 7). She's a Bhaalspawn only in second/third generation.
Secondly, even not knowing her precise lineage, she managed to climb the cult's ladder only to the second step from the top, and so one of greatest emotions that drive her is pure envy to the first one. Still, she's got a Slayer form as a Chosen (maybe only because the obvious candidate disappeared)
All these juicy features you may find out playing as DUrge.
So... her hysteric and desperate tries to appease Bhaal are simply attempts to be the best of the best of the best.
Personally, I feel no sympathy for a child that tears off wings from flies more and more only to show and prove her big bad daddy how apt she is at mutilating insects.
I mean, since you getting into Act III you can just go straight to Gortash and Orin ignoring city itself and ... deal with them. Like, they has nothing to worry about and just waiting you at the nearest corner to be dealt with right after we saw those cutscenes how bad and evil are they. Feels underwhelming... Also in comparison with Ketheric... I would've expect Gortash to be able to flee from his appartments when he looses to co-op with Orin, while Orin should be not in so easy reach for the hero so you have to complete Wyll's arch in order to find a dragon which will help you to fight through the defense of Orin's hideout and Sarevok's amulet would give you access to the inner sanctum or you have to deal with smth else.
However right now I can just kill both of them at the beginning of Act III ignoring other activities or clean the whole BG in order to forget about Gortash and Orin completely.
I'm mentioning that because if the story would've been different in Act III and a bit more about "how to get to Orin" rather than "I can get to her and partners any time" - probably I could've care more in order to end up with questions of morality :D
