Karlach ending help (Spoilers)
So I’m at the end of the game now right before going to the Morphic Pool to face the Elder Brain. I have the hammer and will free Orpheus but I want Karlach to become the mind flayer. She’s not typically ever in my party and I have no experience using her or her moves in a fight

Do I have to have her in my party already before heading to the Morphic Pool or will there be an opportunity in between for me to swap her in

The party you have while starting the end sequence (that starts at the Temple of Bhaal, on the boat) is the one you'll have until the epilogue.

You need to have her there. As far as I recall there is no opportunity to swap her in before.

Damnnn okay now I’ll have to make a tough decision on who not to bring. Appreciate the help

It has been awhile since I played below Tach Difficulty, but I thought I could change my party up at the castle where you give your speech. But on tach you cant after you take the boat and the blue things to heal your party are not there before you make your climb.
As far as playing Karlach, if you don't have her outfitted and leveled right, then use her like a Glass Cannon, as a mindflayer she can fly and have some cool spells and can one shot most people who get to close. Just don't let her get ganged up on. In later games you should use her she is bad ass and can tank with the best of them.

I’m not playing on that difficulty so I wonder if I’ll be able to 🤔, if only there was a way to truly confirm

How much fighting is there before getting to that point of choosing to turn one into a mind flayer, if it’s mostly cutscenes up to that point I’ll just skip through to test it, otherwise yeah I definitely didn’t fix her up correctly so she would be a weak link if there’s a lot of fighting before getting to the point where she can be turned

I’ve ran Shadowheart, Gale and Laezel as my 3 other party members the whole game pretty much

Once you get in the boat at the Morphic Pool and set sail, you are locked into the endgame, including with what party members you have chosen. There can be no "team changes" or returning to camp past that point. And the game warns you you are in the endgame, the essential point of no return.

Gale is the best MindFlayer. I wont spoil it for you, but just look at his Magic/Mindflayer abilities and you have a "GOD" like figure. Just don't have him blow it up unless you have a save.

I kinda don't like the story implications of becoming a mindflayer don't want to "ruin" Gale that way even if gameplay wise he'll be crazy
