Do you think Blood of Lathander is better than Adamantine Mace?
Title. At the forge, I chose the adamantine mace and shield and gave them to Shadowheart.

I'm haven't done the Blood of Lanthander quest yet and it looks like it may be better but wanted to get some perspective before doing the quest.

This is my first playthrough.

Thanks!

Oh by 100 miles of flight line, hell to the f*ck YES!

First off, +3 Mace. From Act I. Insane.

It's also got a light aura. And a good one. Considering you get it prior to Act II which has a HUGE emphasis on light, that's kinda clutch af. Especially since a lot of enemies in Act II have passive invis. if they aren't in light.

Then you look at its passives and properties. Sunbeam 1/LR, that's huge. Auto-revive 1/LR with a heal proc attached. Passive blind on undead and fiends (which are COMMON in Act II onwards)

And considering this is SHeart we're talking about it gets wilder. There's two rings in Act II that add riders if you are illuminated (which the mace does by default). One stacks Radiant Orb which is an attack debuff. The other is +2 Radiant damage per instance.

Even prior to that, you'd want Luminous Armor and Stormy Clamor Boots which you likely found earlier, since they go with that build. The Boots also pop off hard with SHeart thanks to Spirit Guardians, but the blind passive in Act II accelerates it. Hard. That's a lot of passive damage and debuffing you can do simply for existing.

All enabled by this mace.

So, SO much better than ignore resist and object auto-crit.

Blood of Lathander is so good you can end up using it even into Act 3. Its abilities are extremely useful, especially in Act 2...

Thanks much for the detailed analysis!

For next playthrough reference, none of the adamantine weapons are really worth forging compared to the armors, and of those weapons, the mace is probably the worst. The shield is pretty decent though!

But yeah as other posters have said, a +3 weapon is *massively* better than a +1 one, even without all the other neat stuff Blood of Lathander has going for it. It's the first +3 weapon you can get in the game and one of the strongest weapons in the game up until that point, easily.

This weapon was the first time my 2-handed wielding Barbarian looked longingly at a weapon that would be a straight downgrade in terms of damage. Briefly had to weigh the cons of giving up a ton of extra damage for this thing.

Absolutely yes. I use it either on my Paladin or give it to Shadowheart.

Love the Lathander mace. It's carried my Shart right through the game twice now. I pair it up with the forge armour. Chef's kiss.

It's so OP it's basically another Origin character, or maybe a DMNPC

The armour is best. Just the fact that it stops critical hits makes it useful well into Act 3.
