I guess I could be buying every scroll and using them instead of spell slots, or something along those lines, but I have never thought of gold as something in short supply.
As with many games like this, at the very start of the game you find yourself not being able to afford some stuff in the vendor's inventories, and this seems to set the hook that gold is precious and you need every bit of it. However, by mid-Act 1 that just isn't true.
Activating the console commands with the script extender will get this done as well.
Just remember, every time you cheat at this game, though, Sven Vincke kicks a squirrel.
