Ancient Altar

inserting heart into ancient altar does nothing. Any suggestions. I looked on the internet and that was what it told me to insert. Does the game have to be that hard. At least give us a hint!!

Spoilers for how the puzzle is intended to be solved:

1: Read the various books laying around on tables. They give you clues about which sections of the bookshelves are trapped.

2: Access the correct section of the bookshelves.
"Dusty tomes", IIRC

3: Altar highlights

4: Use the "insert item" functionality to insert a heart (available all over in Balthy's room --ick)

5: Door opens.

Which step is not working for you?

I insert the heart but nothing happens. I have a total of 4 hearts because I felt I would need them sometime later in the game. You do know that I am in the Ancient Altar?

Where are you talking about? The "Ancient Altar" where you insert hearts is in Balthazar's room.

the Gauntle of Shar is what I am talking about. Their is an Ancient altar and their is where I inserted the heart. I just am going to continue on.

It's on a shelf in the library. I don't remember what it's called, but the first line of the text answers the question asked on the altar.

In the future OP, not that folks at Steam are not helpful, but sometimes answers can often be found as I've said at bg3.wiki.

BTW: if by "altar" you mean something else (which I suspect), you are looking for 4 Umbral Gems to insert in it.

Nothing in the Gauntlet of Shar takes a heart, that i know of.

It won't insert the heart. I click the altar, click the box in rhe pop up, my inventory comes up, single clicking the heart does nothing, double clicking says I can't use this item now

I'm having same problem it won't take a heart or a foot
