Suddenly poor video on mbpro m2 pro max 38gpu 64gbram after hotfix #21
Since first installing, I have been getting around 30fps at 4k, ultra gfx settings. Haven't played the last 6 days, now suddenly getting 5fps. Even at 1920x1080 it's only 15fps, even lowering graphics settings makes little difference. I can maybe get 20fps dialed all the way down. This must have been from some update between Mar 3 (last I played) and today, Mar 8. Feels like hotfix #21 may have broken or changed something for us mac folk? I've tried reinstalling, no luck EDIT: I thought it was limited to the house of hope alone but it's not. When I finished with Raphael the fps back in BG was bad too.

By cranking down the settings to < 4k, high quality, enabling the AMD stuff ironically (quality), I could at least play the game but pretty significant decrease in video quality amd still much more jittery than before. Hope they fix this soon.

I agree. There's a pretty extreme performance drop with the newest patch that installed just today for me - after hotfix #21. A 50MB update that managed to break performance completely.

I have a similar machine. MacBook Pro M2 Max 16", 32GB RAM, 30 core GPU.

Same all around, after updating today it's running horrifically on my Mac, same specs. Hope someone has an answer or a fix because I'm really mad.

Same! I have a MacBook M3 Pro. The game itself runs fine, but the cutscenes have been shaky/jittery since the last patch. I don't count fps, so I don't know if that performance aspect of the game was impacted for me, but it seems fine. Just the cutscenes are not playing well.
It's not equally bad everywhere - it was particularly bad when I interacted with goblins around the well in Blighted Village, and then the Tyr's paladin guy after doing something with a head.

Performance in the world around those spots is worse than it should be, too.

Must be some specific shader or something.

Same for me. I have a Mac Studio with an m2 ultra and a windows PC with a 4090, the studio could play the game on ultra at 120fps and now it's tanked completely.

I have a similar issue on M3 Pro: the game was running great on mid-max settings but as of yesterday during most of the dialogues the fps drops to about 15 sometimes. Tried setting everything on low, but it didn't help a bit. I also started noticing textures loading (the game is installed on my inner 1 TB SSD).

I have the same situation. M3 max is very stuttered after this update.

I tried, but it didn't work.

Then at last resort there is only the version rollback to check whether the issue is drivers related or indeed game related. Anyone taken that route yet?
It's highly improbable that everybody suddenly has the same driver issues.

Even if everybody has the same driver issues, it's still an issue with drivers everyone has. In which case it's still a device testing issue and can only be fixed by Larian.

I also tried deleting the caches, no effect. Won't try rollback, I like my save games and hope for a fix - it's not unplayable, just really annoying.

Make sure you all at least send in your issue with details of your Macs here

via email support@larian.com

or

via online form https://larian.com/support/baldur-s-gate-3#modal

only then it gets tracked and investigated by Larian Studios properly :spacehamster:

I sent the info through Larian's support. Steam really needs an easy way to undo an update.. I'm so sad right now. I played yesterday morning and was thinking how beautiful the game was looking .. and this morning it just broke my heart. The cut scenes are jerky everywhere, and BG3 is full of cut scenes which I adore. I have a new M3 iMac with 16 GB, which I upgraded to because of BG3 (i'm sure the other pluses/upgrades were important too.. but BG3 was top of my list!)

Hopefully Larian can figure this one out quick!

Using the rollback guide of mine is really not that kind of a big deal.
Once you understand the basics, it is a matter of minutes. Plus you have always the option to "freeze" a game version prevent updates. That is how Windows users keep playing with their Mac friends whenever the versions do not match up.

Could you please share a link to your rollback guide?

Btw, tried to install it on another mac with M2 and there's exactly the same issue: a massive FPS drop during dialogs.
